What gives people the right
To put others down
To make themselves feel better
Because someone is different
It has happened to all of us
At one time or another
It makes us unsure about ourselves
So many people have low self esteem
Because of what people say about them
Some people do not
Hear compliments as often
As they should
They don't know how to react
It's a new experience
They are so used to being put down
They stop being who they are
They forget who they are
The world would be a better place
If everyone treated others
With respect
If everyone accepted others
For who they are
If people chose to compliment
Instead of put down
The world would be a happier place
