Gi-ppeum's mouth fell agape as she stared in awe at the huge house in front of her. Her father never told her the people who'll help them is a freaking rich family. A part of her must be excited to see the inside and how fancy the house is.
She had never been into a house like these. Gi-ppeum never really lived in luxury. But she was indeed happy by how she is right now, she felt just a little bit of envy by how other people must live so well, when she had never experienced such fancy things.
Her excitement grew as she pressed the door bell and was greeted by a man smiling to her. "You must be Gi-ppeum? You're father is here come on in." The man said with a warm smile as he lead her in.
The interior inside was even more beautiful than the outside. Gi-ppeum admired the way the house was styled, it was designed with a minimalist touch.
"Did you have a hard time finding the house? I offered your Dad to pick you up but he declined I hope you didn't have any trouble finding our home." The man added.
Gi-ppeum smiled in response. "Your house is very beautiful, Mr.—"
"Huang. It's Mr. Huang. Have you eaten yet? You should eat with us." Mr. Huang insisted with a smile.
They walked into the living room, a woman greeting her with a smile approached her.
"You must be Gi-ppeum? You are very pretty, dear. Just like you're Mom." The woman complimented her. Gi-ppeum couldn't help but blush as she heard the compliment. The woman was gorgeous and for a second Gi-ppeum thought she looked familiar. She felt like the woman's features were familiar.
"You're here? Have you eaten yet?" Her father greeted her. He was seated next to an empty seat and the woman guided her to sit next to her father.
"Please feel at home, dear." The woman smiled to her. "I actually have a son around your age. I have two boys, actually. I hope you three get along. I never had any girls in the house so, I am very happy that you're here, Gi-ppeum." She added.
"They go to the same school don't they, Jieun?" Mr. Huang asked. "Yes, my son does go to Neo High. Maybe you guys have seen each other at school?" Mrs. Jieun asked. Mr. Huang then got up.
"I'm going to call those two. They must be playing games again. Please excuse me." Mr. Huang excused himself.
Mr. Huang came back with a kid beside him. He looked about 10 years old and the resemblance of Mr. Huang was seen in the little boy's features.
The kid stared at her for a minute and then rolls his eyes at her. Gi-ppeum felt shock for a second but she couldn't help but find it cute that the kid was already giving her an attitude.
He sat between her Mom and Dad, still not giving a single glance at her. However, her thoughts were interrupted by Mr. Huang calling someone.
"Sit down and eat. You've been skipping your meals these days." Mr. Huang snickered at someone.
"I know, Dad. You nag too much." Gi-ppeum stopped eating as she heard the voice.
She couldn't stop herself from turning to make sure it wasn't him. But as she looked, she was petrified in her seat.
Standing infront of them was Renjun. Huang Renjun.
Gi-ppeum blinked. How can she not noticed the same surname? "Son, this is Mr. Oh Gijin. A long time friend of mine. They'll be staying here for a while." Mr. Huang introduced her father. "Gi-ppeum actually goes to your school, maybe you've met each other?" Mr. Huang continued.
As soon as Renjun's eyes reached hers. Gi-ppeum tried to avoid his eyes. Please just don't mind me. Maybe I'm not even here. I'm a hallucination. Don't look at me.
Renjun smirked as he recognized her. "Ah. I think we already met at school, Dad." Mr. Huang smiled. "Really? That's good then. After we eat, bring Gi-ppeum to her room. I'm sure she's tired." He continues.
"Okay. I will." Renjun replied. Gi-ppeum glanced at him but he was already eating, ignoring the fact that she's here.
All of them we're already done eating and Mr. Huang had instructed Renjun to guide to her room. And here she was. Walking silently behind Renjun as he led the way. As they walked upstairs, she heard Renjun speak.
"So, tell me. What are you doing here?" Renjun turned and asked her.
"Huh? I—uh we lost our house and, my Dad said someone want to help us till we find another house. So yeah, that's probably why I'm here." Gi-ppeum said, fidling with her fingers as she tried to avoid his eyes.
"Listen. Don't even tell anyone you're living with me. I don't like getting involved with rumors. Understand?" Renjun ordered.
Now Gi-ppeum was really offended. Did he thought she's the type to spread rumors like these? Why the hell would she even share these kind of information to everyone?
Gi-ppeum crossed her arms as she tried to maintain eye contact. It was hard for her to be honest. She still wasn't used to seeing his face near when she had always seen him form afar. And yes, she is fangirling over her crush.
"You think I would like it if everyone knew I'm living in your house?"
Renjun smirked. "Wouldn't you?" He paused. "After all, it wasn't long since you confessed." Gi-ppeum felt the teasing tone in his voice. She blushed in embarrassment. She felt humiliated enough.
"Do you really make fun of people's feelings, Renjun? I hate to tell you, but I am already regretting that I liked such a jerk." Gi-ppeum paused. "What everyone said was true. You really are a jerk. Does humiliating people a hobby of yours?"
Renjun stayed silent. Gi-ppeum didn't stop talking though. "I should've believed what people said about you." She added before turning her back to him.
"I see. You're just like them." Gi-ppeum stopped at her tracks as she heard him speak. This time she turns to face him, just to hear what he would say next.
"People are so predictable. You think you can judge someone by how people say about them? You know, I thought you were just dumb." He stepped closer to her till he was an inch from her face.
"You're nothing but a nuisance for me. I will never, ever like someone who's living at someone's charity. A pity, really." Renjun smirked at her before walking away from her to his room.
Gi-ppeum didn't notice the tears forming in her eyes. She knew this wasn't something that she should cry on. But something in his words stung. She was hurt. Maybe it did hurt because of the fact that he was the one who said it. The person who she deeply admired for the last three years was the one who said it.
Gi-ppeum took a deep breath as she wiped a tear from her cheeks.
It's going to be hard living here.
