They watched the enemy base from the tree line.
"You're not serious." Rooster said looking over at Maverick. Maverick got up and started walking. Then Rebel got up, following Maverick.
"Shit." Rooster shock his head. He got up and followed them. They speed walked.
"I think we should start running." Rebel said.
"Yeah." Both men said. They started running. They ran to a hanger. There sat two f-14s
"Wow." Rebel said.
"You've got to be shitting me." Rooster said.
"F-14s?" Both Rebel and Rooster said.
"I shot down three migs in one of those." Maverick looked the planes over.
"We don't even know if that bag of ass can fly." Rooster said. Rebel hit his chest.
"Let's find out." Rebel spoke."Okay. Dani remember when I showed you the f-14?" Maverick asked his daughter. She nodded.
"Yeah."
"Well there there are three of us and we all can't fit in one..." Rebel cut off her dad.
"I'm not leaving you. I ... I can't dad." Rebel said.
"I'm not leaving you. I won't. I need you to fly. I need you to pilot." Maverick said. Rebel nodded. He turned to Rooster.
"Once... once I give you the signal for air, you're gonna flip this switch until the needle gets to 120. When the engine starts, you got to pull out the pins and disconnect everything. You understand?" Maverick asked.
"Yeah." Rooster saidThey got both jets running.
"Okay! Rooster I need you to fly with Rebel." Maverick said. Rooster nodded. Rooster got in the back seat of Rebel's jet. Maverick looked over at them with their helmets on. He swore he saw himself and Goose.
"Oh, my god. This thing is so old." Rooster said.
"Your not the one flying." Rebel joked.
"All right. Ready?" Maverick asked.
"Ready." Rebel and Rooster said.
"Both runways are cratered. How we gonna get this museum piece in the air?" Rooster said. Rebel kept moving the jet forward and presses the button for the wings. "Why are the wings coming out, 'Bel?" Rooster asked. She didn't answer.
"Bel, this is a taxiway, not a runway." Rooster spoke.
"This is a very short taxiway, Bel.".
"Just hang on." Rebel said.
"Holy shit!" Rooster sat there. Maverick thought of himself and Goose bickering. Thinking that this is what control always heard.
"Come on, come on, come on." Rebel said. Needle's alive. Come on." She spoke. They were lifted at little.
"Bel?" Rooster said.
"That's it. Come on, come on!" She yelled. They were in the air. Maverick was behind them."Okay, rooster, get us in touch with the carrier." Rebel said.
"I'm working on it." He spoke looking around. "Radio's out. No radar. Everything's dead back here.
What do I do? Talk me through it. Maverick?"
"Okay, first the radio." Rebel said.
"The uhf-2 circuit breaker. Try that." Maverick spoke.
"There's 300 breakers back here. Anything more specific?" Rooster asked.
"I don't know. That was your dad's department." Maverick said.
"I'll figure it out." Rooster told them. "Bel, tally two, 5:00 low." Two jets flew up next to them.
"What do we do?" They both asked.
"Okay, listen. Just be cool. If they knew who we were, we'd be dead already." Maverick told the two.
"What's your plan?" Rebel asked.
"Just put your mask on. Remember, we're on the same team. Just wave and smile. Just wave and smile." And so the three waved and smiled. The man in the enemy jet made a signal.
"What's that signal? What's he saying?" The two lieutenants asked.
"No idea. I have no idea what he's saying." Maverick said while making random signs.
"Oh, shit. His wing man is moving into weapons envelope." Rebel said.
"All right, listen up. When I tell you, you fly as fast as you can." Maverick said.
"We are not leaving you." The two yelled.
"Dad, even if we did, can we outrun these guys?" Rebel asked.
"Not their missiles and guns." Maverick informed.
"Then it's a dogfight." Rooster said, taking ahold of Rebels shoulder.
"An f-14 against fifth-gen fighters?" Maverick asked.
"It's not the plane, it's the pilot." Rebel said.
"You'd go after 'em if we weren't here." Rooster said.
"But you are here." Maverick said.
"Dad this is the only way to get back. We need to stay with you." Rebel spoke. "Don't think."
"Just do." Rooster finished her sentence.
"Okay." Maverick said.
"Okay." Everyone agreed.
"Bel?" Rooster said.
"Yeah?" She asked.
"Just in case something does happen..." she cut him off.
"Nothing is going to happen." She said sternly.
"I just want you to know I do love you." Rooster spoke.
"I love you too." She said with a shaky voice. They flew around in a dogfight with the enemy. Both Rebel and Maverick ran out of bullets and missiles. There was still and enemy jet behind them. Till out of no where it fell from the sky. There flew in Hangman.
"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is your savior speaking. Please fasten your seat belts, return your tray tables to their locked and upright positions..." they heard Hangman chuckle. "And prepare for landing." Hangman said.
"Hey, Hangman, you look good." Rooster said.
"I am good, rooster. I'm very good. I'll see you back on deck." Hangman flew to the carrier. They all landed. Rebel said there and took a deep breath.
"Dani?" Rooster called her. She unbuckled and looked back at him. She smiled with a tear falling down her cheek. "Dani we did it."
"I love Bradley." She simply said. She opened the canopy and got out. Everyone cheered and hugged them.
Dani ran to her dad.
"We did it. Dad I did it." She said as they hugged.
Rooster came up behind them. Dani let go of her dad and turned to Rooster. Rooster walked up and hugged Maverick.
"Thank you for saving me." Maverick said.
"Thank you Maverick for being there."Rooster spoke.
They watched as Dani talked to Phoenix.
"You love her. You love her a lot." Maverick said. Rooster stood straight.
"Yeah I do."
"I can tell. You remind me of them." Rooster looked at Maverick. "You remind me of your parents. They love each other so much. I'd like saw I see you both as me and her mom, but things didn't work between us. But I know things will work between you and Dani."
"Thank you Maverick." Rooster smiled. Maverick looked at him. And patted his shoulder. Dani ran up to Rooster and hugged him. Almost knocking them down.
