Yashiro
Yashiro lazily woke up, she felt as if life was something to tolerate and not enjoy. Her 23rd birthday just passed and she had just gotten promoted at her dull office job. The day repeated over and over, the same songs played while she got ready, she put on the same white button up shirt, the same fishnets stockings, the same black pleated skirt and the same white socks and the same black Mary Janes. She put her hair in the same French braids. She took the same subway to work and it always had the same driver. she sat in the same seat with the same people.
She scrolled through her Instagram mindlessly. It was the only thing that gave her even the most minor amount of joy, not enough to make her smile though.
"WAAAAIIIITTTT" Yelled a high pitched voice belonging to a boy who looked around her age.
Yashiro jolted, unprepared for the sudden change. Her eyes floated over to the boy's. He did the same. It stayed like that for a solid 10 seconds.
Until someone yelled, "Hey! sit down!" and the boy plopped down at the open seat next to her.
"Hey! What's your name? Since we're CLEARLY curious about eachother." He said with a cheeky grin plastered on his face.
"Ew! dont say it like that! It sounds like we are in love with eachother!" She said, utterly repulsed.
"I dunno, maybe we are! Where are you going?"
"The Subinoto HQ."
"IM GOING THERE TOO!!! I just got hired!!"
"Ngnnhh And my contract says I must train you also."
YASHIRO buried her face in her hands. This kid was seriously annoying, given the fact she didn't get a good night's sleep.
"Awwweee Cheer up! A lady as pretty as you shouldn't be upset!"
A burn slowly crept up Yashiros face. But not the painful type. The type she got in highschool. Before she decided she wouldn't fall in love at all, in college.
"Are you alright? I wanna make sure my mentor is in tip top shape!"
He moved her hands from her face. He cocked his head.
"Is it too hot in here? Your face is bright red!"
"No shit Sherlock. Of course it is."
"No need to use such strong language new friend!"
Yashiro let out and audible groan.
"Now at Subinoto HQ." Played the intercom. You could barely interpret the words from one another. But Yashiro learned to just assume.
"That's us." Yashiro softly spoke, tapping on the boy's shoulder.
"Oh! Hey what's your name?"
"Yashiro Nene, Executive of the marketing department of Subinoto Tech Industries."
"You have a beautiful name Yashiro! Im Amane Yugi, forever your subordinate!"
"Don't say that." Yashiro said so quietly that only he could hear her.
Yashiro hated when people said they were under her. She thought she would be dead in a ditch by now. Never thought she would be the executive of the marketing department of one of the biggest companies of our time. Also the word subordinate sounded weird.
"Ok Yashiro!"
They both walked through the revolving door. They walked through the building differently. Yashiro had her arms calmly crossed Infront of her, while Amane had a bounce in his step and gazed at every detail in the building like it was an art gallery.
"May I push the elevator button? Pleaaaaaaseeeeee Yashiro!"
Yashiro scrunched her nose.
"Alright. Don't know why though.".
Amane excitedly pushed the elevator button and practically jumped up and down as the two waited for the elevator to arrive.
"Calm down, don't wanna give off the wrong impression. They are quite judgemental here. I learned that early."
Yashiro had flashes of memories from when she just joined the company.
"Ahahaha! Look at that new girl, she has such fat ankles!"
"Let's try to avoid the elephant in the room hahaha!!"
"I never thought they'd have an elephant girl as the executive but I guess times ARE changing."
Yashiro took a deep breath and mentally counted to 10. That's what her therapist told her to do.
"Here we are."
"Ok mentor! Do I sit next to you?"
"Sure whatever"
Amane plopped down on the chair directly next to Yashiro's spinny one.
"What do I do now?"
"Pull out your Chromebook."
"Alright!"
"And finish these Excel documents."
"Woah that's a lot!"
"Welcome to the thunderdome, new boy."
TYSM for reading this, I know it's kinda short because I specialize in short stories. I have so much stuff that I look forward to making in this story but we have to get through the boring parts though.
