[ and......you were happy ]
chapter twenty-five

everything felt unreal.

this was actually happening.

katrina followed the blonde boy back into the mall, an unconscious eleven over his shoulder. he placed her down on the ground and whispered into her ear, "don't be afraid. it'll be over soon. just try and stay.......very still."

katrina knelt down, her eyes rested on elevens as they opened and she gasped at the sight of the mind flayer.

"stay still," she whispered to her sister, holding her hand.

a tear rolled down katrinas cheek as eleven looked at her. she could see the pain in her eyes. she didn't want to do this.

she was being forced.

"katrina...."

and although she feared her sister in that moment, she hugged her, wrapped her arms around the girl.

katrina —— well, the mind flayer pulled out of her grasp and slammed the girl on the ground, "stay still."

she watched as billy towered over eleven, fear in her eyes.

the mind flayer then reached out toward eleven but was stopped when fireworks were being thrown at him, "flay this, you ugly piece of shit!" lucas yelled, as he and everyone else threw fireworks at the creature.

"hey asshole! over here!" steve shouted, throwing more fireworks at him.

jonathan saw what was happening to billy and katrina everytime a firework hit the mind flayer.

they screamed out in pain.

although the boy hated hearing her screams, he kept throwing them.

eleven saw this as a chance to escape and she tried to crawl away but billy grabbed her ankle and dragged her back over to the mind flayer, despite the pain, while katrina laid down next to eleven, the pain being unbearable to ignore and she had it.

the group above them were slowly loosing fireworks and the gate still wasn't closed.

"seven feet.." eleven breathed out quickly, catching billys attention, "you told her.....the wave was seven feet." she cried, billys face softening at her words, "you ran to her, on the beach. there were seagulls. she wore a hat....with a blue ribbon. a long dress....with a blue and red flower. yel-yellow sandals, covered in sand. she was pretty. she was really pretty," billy nodded at her words, tears fell from his eyes and onto her cheeks.

katrina listened and she herself was crying too.

she knew about the love billy had for his mother. it broke her heart hearing that she left him.

"and you.......you were happy," eleven placed a hand on billys cheek, and katrina did too.

the group had ran out of fireworks and katrina and billy were almost themselves again.
