It was Christmas. Nothing really wrong with that.
Rather it's the.... "Guest" who may appear unwanted and preferably should be under his heel as soon as his wretched bearded face spawns.
Drake sighs, already at the door wearing his signature black coat and boats, sword strapped to his back and pockets filled with things to entertain himself til he can come back and the bastard's long gone. Only difference from then is he now wears a colorful knitted hat from his son. "You need a pop of color!" He said.
It had been a good day for them, him and his family. The other fat bastard managed to somehow evade his spells & runes once again and stuffed candy by their bedside and gifts under their tree.
Funnily enough, the only reason why they celebrate Christmas was because of his good friend Fox wanted to be festive at this time in the year. Can't blame him, it's cold, wrapped in white (his least favorite color) and the earth is already freezing to him and Hilbert, why be colder and drabber?
"Bye dad! We promise to be good!" Marci hugs him, he returns with a kiss on her temple and she shadow-dashes to her gift pile. CB lets go next and tugs his sleeve. "I'll get a stab in for you!"
Drake nods, wishing it was him that could but nevertheless having a child stab that spawn of wretch-ness is satisfyingly enough. He leaves as well, leaving his two other sons.
"Stay warm, okay?"
"I'll try." His father responds, ruffling his chocolate locks of hair. He giggles, waving as he joins his older brother. Last was Wolf. He looked up to him. He looked down to him.
"Why do you even put up with him? Can't we just banish him? Or kill him?" The freckled boy asks, rubbing his head against his father's coat and clinging to it. Drake sighed and placed his hand on his head.
"Ugh, you know why Wolf." He raises a brow.
"Balance?" The man rolls his eyes, running his hands through his son's rowdy hair, which allow him to travel through untangled.
"No, we would hunted down and executed or worse."
"Oh yeah..." He leaned into Drake's hand. "Still wish you could..."
"I know. I'll find a way to get rid of him at some point, so don't worry about it.-" He looks around, no sign of him. "-It's a pet project of mine."
Wolf cracks a small smile. "Good." He hugs him one more time before heading over to his siblings.
That was all four. Sure there's Mox, Fox, and Hilbert; however he's only going to be gone for 4 hours or 10 max. And the kids are usually up and stay up when antsy or a big even passed so they'll see him before they go to sleep. They know how he can be so they don't try to get in the way. He owes indefinitely for that. It isn't fair to them.
Drake turns on his heel. He was ready to take his leave then and there, however Jo made her way to his side and throw a matching scarf over his shoulders. Both their eyes follow her fingers looping the scarf around his neck and tightening it.
She finally glances up to him. He tilts his head, Jo sticks out her tongue. They share a laugh. "So dumb."
"I know righttt?" Jo rolls her eyes and tightens the scarf again, yet doesn't go. Her eyes connect with his, his curiosity grew as he leaned towards her. "Drake please, " Her hands drifted to his shoulders. She squeezes them. "...just stay. Just one more hour. Then you can go and mope about angrily til your heart's content."
He sighs, he loves Jo, really, but even she could never ever convince him to stay within the same realm (metaphorically since literally would be a unnecessary hassle) of him. Hell, not even Hilbert, who wouldn't ever ask him to anyways.
