"What did you do?" I asked.

"Who are you asking?" Emmett asked, wrapping his arms around my waist.

"My brother, what did you do?" I repeated.

"Why do you think I did anything?" He asked.

"Your ugly ass face can't hide anything." I complained.

"Why would I be trying to hide something?" Jeremy asked.

"Because you're an ass and we're not teenagers anymore, you don't get to intimidate the guy I'm dating. Grow the fuck up." I sighed.

"As your older brother, it's my job to embarrass you and make whoever you're dating uncomfortable. I don't give a rat's ass if you were fifty, I'm still doing it." He laughed.

"Ugh, language!" I scolded myself and my brother, we just bring out the foul mouths in each other.

"Can I at least know if I passed the test?" Emmett asked.

"Still processing your results." Jeremy told him.

"I respect that." Emmett said.

"I can't ..."

"It's fine babe, he's your big brother. I did the same thing for Rose and Alice." He smirked and it made me laugh.

"Did you now?" I asked.

"Yup and I enjoyed it too."

"You see! It's a big brother's prerogative to be an ass to his sister's boyfriend when they first meet." Jeremy playfully argued.

"Both of you are horrible." I sighed.

"They're not entirely wrong, I scared off Seth's first little crush." Leah said as she walked into the kitchen.

"Even girls do it. I'm in the right here." Jeremy said, smiling at Leah.

"I hate all of you." I said, making them all laugh.

We had breakfast together and then Leah took off, much to my brother's displeasure. She said she had to 'work' which means she's going home to sleep and then pick up patrols again wherever she's going. I don't really know what's happening around me and that's fully okay with me, I just want all of these issues with the vampires to be over. I don't want to have to worry about vampires in my house putting my family in danger.

"You okay?" Emmett asked sometime later.

"Yeah, I'm just ... my mind isn't all together here." I sighed.

"What's wrong? Talk to me."

"Not here and not now." I whispered.

"So, you want to spend the night at my house?" he asked.

"I don't ..."

"It's okay, I get it, you want to spend time with him." he said, kissing my temple.

"I just don't know how to do that. He's been through so much and I'm sure he doesn't want me hovering but I just need to make sure he's okay. I don't know how to be there for him." I admitted as the tears started to fall.

"Val ..."

"Just letting me be here is you being here for me." I heard, making me turn around.

"Jer ..."

"I went through things, Tina, things that I will never tell you about because I don't want you to know how ... there are just things you don't have to know. You're already helping me Tina, just by letting me be here, with my family." my brother said, wrapping his arms around me.
