I was walking home from school

I was walking home from school. People were saying hi and being nice. I could see the sadness in their eyes. I have Lung Cancer and have to carry an oxygen tank around. It gets extremely exhausting but I got used to it. I've been living with my grandmother. Adelaide Bonfamille.

She took me in after my parents gave me away. They just probably wanted to get rid of me. I smile as I walked inside. "Bonjour, Antoinette. How was your day?" Our butler Edgar, asked me as he took my bag and coat. "It was okay. Where are my babies?"

I asked as I looked around for Sebastian and Angel. I didn't see them or Duchess, or the kittens. "They're with the Madame in the office," Edgar told me as I nodded. I walked up the stairs and walked into the office. "Bonjour grandma," I said as she looked up at me with a grin.

All the kittens ran to me. I crouched down and pet them. "How was school darling?" Grandma asked me as I stood up as it got hard to breathe. "It was okay" I answered as I sat down in the chair in front of the desk. Sebastian was at my feet. He started rubbing his face on me as Angel got on my lap.

I kissed her head. "I missed you at school. If only they allowed animals again" I sighed as Angel and Sebastian meowed at me. "Why don't they allow animals? They used to" grandma asked as she looked at me. The school I go to is a fancy high school.

They used to allow animals, like service animals. But some dumb person got them banned. "Somebody brought a dog to the school but it was violent. It hurt a lot of people. So the school board decided to ban all animals. Service or not" I explained to her.

Grandma had a sad look on her face as she shook her head. "I'm sorry dear, I know how much Angel and Sebastian help you" I nodded as I petted them. "It's fine, I'm lucky I'm even still alive right now" I saw grandma's face saddened at that. It was true.

I don't have that much time to live, at least one more year left, maybe two. I'll die between the ages of 17 to 19. "You made it to 17 at least. Happy birthday my dear" grandma said as she put a gift on her desk. I chuckled as I took the gift, inside was a bracelet. It had a cat on it.
