I walked up to a tree branch that has fallen to the ground. Jasper was right behind me. Helping me with my oxygen tank. "You know, don't you?" Jasper asked. "I did, but I don't care about that," I shook my head, turning around. I made eye contact with Jasper. "But I am confused about the treaty," I added.

"They wanted to protect themselves," he answered. "How old are you?" I asked. "Nineteen," Jasper added. "How long have you been nineteen?" I asked. Jasper saw he can't hide anymore. Honesty was an enormous risk, but he has to take it. "....A while," he replied as I sighed.

"I know what the Cold Ones are," I looked up at him. "What you are." "Say it. Out loud. Say it," Jasper asked me. The noises stopped as I whispered it. ".....Vampire," I whispered as Jasper nodded. I grabbed his shirt as Jasper pulls me closer to him. I hold onto him as I look up at him.

"Why do you have this effect on me?" I asked. "You're my blood singer, who happens to be my mate," he answered. I stood up on my toes and kissed his cheek. "When were you turned?" I asked. "1863," Jasper answered. "I've been looking for you since I met Alice."

"You have?" I asked. "She wanted to meet me then?" "She wanted to meet you so much," Jasper shook his head. "She told me that she had a vision of you meeting me. She thinks of you as a sister." "I wanted a sister," I giggled. "We should meet up." "You will," Jasper asked.

"You have to ask me the most basic question: what do we eat?" "You won't hurt me," I reminded him. "If you want to, you could have killed me. I know it. You're different. So am I." "You think you know me?" Jasper asked as he grabbed my hand and my oxygen tank. "Where are we going?" I asked.

"Up the mountain. Out of the cloud bank," Jasper replied. "You need to see what I am. What I look like in the harsh light of the sun." "Won't you burn?" I asked, worried. "I don't want to lose you." "You need to see the truth," Jasper told me as he pulls me onto his back. He held my oxygen tank as he ran.

"Slow down!" I asked. "Are you afraid?" He asked. "No," I replied.  "Then come with me," he told me as he looked. "I always wanted to do this with you. Ever since I first met you. No one can protect you from what I'm about to show you." "I'm not afraid," I reminded him.
