Cathryn's POV

It's been 4 months since I moved to Vancouver. Things couldn't be better. I was friends with all of Josh's band, I had a few friends at work and I had the feeling I was falling for Josh. I wasn't sure what I should do. I had no idea if Josh even liked me. I hadn't really given it too much thought. I was on my way to the weekly hang out with the guys, this week it was at Ian's. I left Ramses at home since I didn't want to know what trouble he and Ian's pug would do. As I arrived I looked and saw Josh's car. I smiled as I knocked on the door. As soon as Ian opened it I was engulfed in a hug.

“Hey Ian, what's the plan for tonight?” I asked as I made way to the living room, I saw Matt, Mike and Josh all on the couch.

“We're gonna play some Xbox and then have some drinks and pizza.” He said with a grin.

“Cool.” I said as I went and sat on Josh. I stretched my legs out so I'd be on all three of them. I rested my head on Josh's chest.

“I hope you're comfy.” Josh laughed as I wiggled my butt to get in a better spot. He took a sharp breath in as I moved.

“So are you ready for a ass kicking?” Mike asked, trying to tickle me.

“Eh not that big on video games. I'll just watch.” I smiled as I took a deep breath. The smell from Josh's shirt made my head spin a bit. He smelt so amazing, even it was just whatever he showered with.

“How's Ramses?” Matt asked.

“He's ok. Probably pouting. I just didn't want to deal with any trouble that Ramses might start.” I laughed as Ian handed me a beer. “Thanks!”

“So have you heard from any of your friends back home?” Matt asked, I tensed up at the question. I hadn't really talked about my life back home. I just kind of avoided the questions.

“Um ok I guess. I haven't really talked to anyone. I mean I left that behind.” I stated as I got up from my spot on Josh. They were all looking at me kind of strange.

“You ok Cat? You seem kinda tense.” Mike asked, I needed air. I went outside to breath when Josh and Ian walked out.

“Hey.....why don't you wanna talk about home?” Ian asked. Ian and I had gotten rather close once I got past all his sexual humor.

“It's hard. There's so much hate.” I let out a heavy sigh as Josh rubbed my back.

“You know you can talk to us. We don't judge.” Josh gave me a hug as I started to cry.

“Can we go back in?” I asked softly.

Once back inside they guys shut the game off and looked at me. Ian handed me the beer I started and Josh sat at his kitchen table.

“So you all know I left home. I left my dad there with his crazy ass girlfriend and their evil child. I am not one to hate children but their daughter is just evil. I also left my exes. That's the real reason I left. The last guy I went out with hurt me. Mentally and physically. He broke my arm and always told me I was fat. I took it. He vowed never to let me go. It took losing something I have always wanted to leave him.” I started to shake as I told all of them about my ex. “I suffered a miscarriage a year ago. He had no idea I was pregnant. I wasn't going to tell anyone. I was just going to leave. He threw me against a wall.”

“What the fuck?” Josh hissed.

“Why didn't you go to the cops?” Mike asked. Matt looked horrified.

“That's not the worst. I did go to the cops. They told me I made it all up and I needed to go make up with him. I waited until he was at work and packed my things. I moved out that night. I emptied the joint account and left. I hide for a few months. Once he found me again a few months later, I had Ramses by then and he hated my ex. He went after him. My ex tried to kill Ramses. That's why I trust him. Every man that he doesn't like I don't go near. But after he found me I came here. And I met you guys.” I said I felt the tears flowing. Then I felt 8 arms hugging me at once.
