I could tell when they got back that the mission hadn't gone as intended.
Wanda seemed particularly upset, she didn't want to talk to me when she got back.
Wanda had locked herself in her room and hadn't come out.
Pietro was outside her door. "Wanda please, it was not your fault," Pietro called through the door.
There was no answer.
Steve rounded the corner, "Hey," his voice was gentle as he grabbed Pietro's shoulder, "Why don't you take Annabeth and I'll talk to her," Steve tried, he had his mom face on.
Pietro sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, "I just wish she would talk to me," he said, glancing at the door before looking back at me, "Come Annabeth, let us go walk,".
I shifted into a tri-colored Siberian Laika.
Pietro turned to look at me as he heard the change. "You are getting better with colors," he observed.
I barked at him, heading towards the door to wait while he put on his shoes. "You are so impatient," he muttered under his breath as he opened the door.
I pushed past the door and bounded onto the grass, it was a warm day and the sun felt great on my fur.
"I am going to assume you want to walk the perimeter trail?" Pietro called, hopping off the porch.
I turned my head to look back at him, giving a bark of confirmation before breaking into a slower gallop to the woods.
I heard Pietro laugh before running after me, "You are going to have to try harder to outrun me than that Princessa," he taunted before disappearing.
I snorted at the fading streak, so much for a walk, I thought to myself as I started down the trail with my paws sinking in the soft earth.
I'd worn down this particular trail myself, the forest was my quiet place.
