Sonic zoomed down the beach, bored out of his mind. Eggman hadn't attacked for the past few days, leaving everyone with nothing to do. Although 'everyone' was really only referring to Sonic. Everybody else had something to keep them busy.

Tails was most likely repairing his plane, and Knuckles was probably watching some stupid reality show. Amy had gone to bake cookies a while ago, and Sticks mentioned gathering supplies for, whatever conspiracy she had gotten her hands on.

That left Sonic all alone. He would go to Meh Burger, but didn't really want to have to talk to Dave. So this limited his options. The only thing he could really do now was run. It's what he did best after all.

Sonic came to a stop at a steep ledge. He looked over the view in front of him and to the ocean. He wasn't really fond of getting wet, or water in general, but the way the sun shone on the sea as it was setting was truly breathtaking.

Looking at the scenery around him, Sonic noticed Shadow in the distance, who was leaned against a small palm. Smiling to himself, he dashed towards his direction.

Hiding behind a tree so he wouldn't be spotted, Sonic observed Shadow. The ebony figure was staring off into the distance, enjoying the sunset as much as Sonic had. It reminded him of Maria. She had always wanted to witness a sunset.

Sonic walked up behind Shadow and gently punched his arm. "Whats up, Shads?" He said with a grin. Shadow's expression turned cold, and his gaze sharpened.

"What do you want, faker?" He said coldly, a growl creeping up his throat. Sonic leaned back against the tree, brushing Shadow's shoulder.

"Oh, you know. Just wandering around. Enjoying the view?" He said with a grin. Shadow scoffed and roughly jerked his shoulder away, crossing his arms.

"I guess you could say that." Shadow continued to gaze at the water, which reflected all the colors of the sky. "They're peaceful."

"I didn't know you liked sunsets." Sonic said, giving him a grin. Shadow grunted in response.

"There's a lot of things you don't know about me, hedgehog." He said bluntly. Sonic chuckled and sat down on the soft grass.

"Then why don't you tell me?" He said, resting his head in his hands. Shadow finally met Sonic's gaze. Deep, dark eyes staring into bright green ones.

Shadow thought for a second. He had never really gotten close with the azure hedgehog, and never really cared to in the first place.

"Hm." Shadow hummed. "Maybe, but not here." He said in his signature tone. This caught Sonic by surprise. He hadn't expected Shadow to agree, it was more of a teasing suggestion. Either way, Sonic didn't mind.

"Alright. Then, where should we go?" The azure said, standing to his feet. Shadow started walking down a nearby hill.

"Follow me."

Sonic nodded and followed behind Shadow. The two were walking agonizingly slow, and Sonic desperately wanted to run. Shadow noticed his constant fidgeting and sighed.

"Don't worry, we're almost there." The ebony one said, receiving a sigh of relief. Shadow led Sonic into a dark cave, illuminated with glowing pink stones. They lit up the whole cavern to have a subtle pink glow. Sonic looked around in awe.
