The town of Mobius was filled with late night chatter. Lamps were lit, emitting a soft glow onto the passing Mobians. Sonic was walking along a broad cobblestone pathway, accompanied by Shadow, Silver, and Blaze.
The two had finally moved to Mobius, wanting to grow a deeper connection with their friends. Silver would go back to the future once in a while to make sure nothing got out of hand, while Blaze had decided she wanted to leave her life as a princess.
The four walked for a while, striking simple conversation. It lasted a few more minutes before Silver slowly came to a stop. Looking over his shoulder, Sonic gave the snow furred hedgehog a questioning glance.
"What's up, Silver?" The azure asked, watching as his friend looked around.
"Where did Blaze go?" Silver asked, stretching his neck to look far down the path. Sonic walked toward him, joining in on the search.
"She could've taken some time for herself." Shadow said, causing the other two hedgehogs to turn their heads. Sonic contemplated what the ebony had said.
He could be right, Blaze did get anxious in busy crowds, and they were in a pretty busy town.
"But what if she got lost? We have to find her!" Silver said, clearly worried for his friend. Shadow looked from Silver to Sonic, as if asking if he had an idea.
"Hey, I'll go look for her. Everything will be fine, I promise." Sonic said, noticing as Silver was still anxious about the situation.
Silver nodded slowly.
"Alright then, you two go on and enjoy the night." Sonic said, giving them a small wave goodbye. Silver's eyes widened slightly as he looked at Sonic.
"Just the two of us? Alone..?" He whispered, so he was out of the ear range of the ebony hedgehog, who had already started walking away.
Sonic chuckled to himself as he noticed the small tint of red plastered on the shorter hedgehog's muzzle.
"He's not that bad. He's actually pretty nice." Sonic said, walking away. "I'll be back soon!" He said, before quickly dashing away.

After half an hour of running, Sonic still had failed to find the lavender-colored cat. He had searched the whole town, but to no avail. Taking notice of all the commotion in the town, Sonic decided to look somewhere more silent.
Walking away from the town, he walked into a nearby field. It was lit with fireflies and a quiet buzzing filled the atmosphere.
If i'm going to find Blaze, I'm going to have to think like her. Now.. if I were Blaze, where would I be?
Looking around, the azure's eyes landed on the firefly forest. At least, that's what all Mobians called it, as it was told to be home to thousands of flying stars.
Without thought, Sonic dashed into the forest, stopping as he made it inside. He walked around for a few seconds, admiring his surroundings. It would seem the rumors were true. The forest was filled with fireflies, making the forest practically glow.
He walked forward for a few minutes, knowing where he was headed. The ledge over the town. From it you could see all of Mobius.
Sonic smiled in triumph as he spotted the lavender-colored cat sitting alone near the ledge. Walking up behind her, he slowly sat by her side, his legs dangling over the edge. The two gazed over Mobius in silence, fireflies chirping in the distance.
"It's amazing, isn't it?" Sonic said quietly. Nodding, Blaze closed her eyes. Her knees were close to her chest and she took deep breaths.
"I have a feeling you're having a hard time adjusting here." Sonic said, turning to look at the lithe figure beside him.
"It's most surely different." Blaze said, glancing down at her clothes. She wore tall boots, jean shorts, and a black tank-top. "I'm not used to dressing so casual." She had lived her whole life as a princess after all, adjusting to a new culture would be difficult.
"Are you sure that's the only thing bothering you?" Sonic said, looking directly into her eyes. Blaze turned her head to look at the azure hedgehog. She stared for a few seconds, captivated by his green eyes. They shone in the moonlight and were gentle.
Looking away, she sighed. "I suppose not."
The two shared the silence of the atmosphere, until Sonic finally spoke up.
"If you're comfortable, would you mind telling me what's bothering you?" He said, looking over Mobius once again. Blaze contemplated his offer for a few seconds before leaning back on her hands.
"I guess it can't hurt, can it?" She said with a small smile. She paused for a few seconds, trying to think of where to start. Sonic gave her his attention as she opened her mouth to speak.
"Sometimes, I can't help but miss home. It doesn't make sense. I said my goodbyes, and I was so sure that this was the right choice," Blaze clenched her knees back to her chest, wrapping her arms around them.
Sonic on the other hand, was looking directly into her eyes as he read every single emotion they portrayed.
"but now, I can't help but feel out of place. I don't want to be a bother to anyone." Blaze murmered, her eyes glazing over. Sonic felt a pang of guilt in his chest as he sympathized with the feline.
"It's none of your fault of course, I'm just sentimental I suppose." She said, sniffing quietly. Sonic scooted closer and took her hand in his.
"Hey," Sonic said, looking at Blaze, "look at me." He said softly, her eyes locking with his. "Everything is going to be alright, I understand it's a hard transition, but I know you're going to make it through this. You're strong, Blaze.
Bringing his hand gently to her face, Sonic wiped the small tear that had begun to fall from Blaze's face.
Resting his forehead on her's, Sonic gazed softly at Blaze. "Everything will be okay." He whispered, a small purr emitting from his chest.
Blaze smiled and closed her eyes, beginning to purr as well.
"Thank you, Sonic."
The azure smiled, his chest fluttering. His cheeks became warm as rested his head on top of hers, nuzzling his nose into her fur. A light pink dusted Blaze's muzzle as she laughed at his dorkiness.
Pulling away from the small hug, they both sat facing towards the ledge once more. Letting her head rest on Sonic's shoulder, she closed her eyes.
A warm, fuzzy feeling grew inside of Sonic, and he released the breath he didn't even know he was holding. Gazing at the fireflies around them, one landed on his leg. He smiled and watched as it flew away to all of its other companions.
Now calm, Sonic rested his head on Blaze's and wrapped an arm around her, embracing her gently. The fireflies buzzed and flew around them, illuminating the two's fur softly as they both rested in each other's embrace.
