Chapter 23

The next day, Sidharth, Sudha and Reet went to buy groceries and daily essentials leaving Shehnaaz behind keeping in mind her leg injury.

When they returned, they saw Shehnaaz sleeping soundly.
"Yeh itna kyu so rahi hai? Kahi zyaada tabiyat toh kharaab nahi ho gayi iski?" Reet said keeping her hand on Shehnaaz's forehead which woke up Shehnaaz.

"Amma. Aa gaye aap sab. Beitho mein paani le kar aati hun." Shehnaaz said standing up but was made to sit on the bed by Sudha.

"Beithi reh, pagli. Peir ko jaldi theek karna hai na toh rest kar." Sudha said to Shehnaaz.

Sidharth had left the room when Sudha was telling Shehnaaz to rest. He came back with water for all of them.

"Aunty. Aap chinta mat karo. Iski tablets ka dose heavy hai isliye bhi yeh jyaada so rahi hai. Agar aap ko phir bhi tension hai toh kal isko doctor ke paas le chalegen." Sidharth assured Reet.

Shehnaaz interrupted, "Nahi, nahi. Doctor ke paas nahi jaana hai. Mein theek hun. Vo toh aap log koi the nahi aur kuch kaam bhi nahi tha isliye mein so gayi thi."

Few days later, it was time for Sudha and Reet to leave their children and go back.

Sidharth took them to the railway station and stood perplexed on seeing Reet and Shehnaaz crying hysterically.

"Shehnaaz. Bacha tu toh aise ro rahi hai jaise teri vidaai ho rahi hai." Sudha said trying to calm the mother-daughter duo.

"Haan meri gudiya. Tu achhe se padh. Milte rahengen hum." Reet understood that it will be quite difficult for both of them to stay away from each other but she has to for her better future.

Sidharth kept their luggage in the train and said, "Aap dono please phone on hi rakhna aur pohachte hi phone karna."

"Maana ki mera beta bada ho gaya hai aur meri fikr ho rahi hai par mein humesha teri maa hi rahungi. Tujhe maine hi paala hai. Rakhungi mein apna aur Reet ka dhyaan." Sudha said hugging Sidharth and kissing his cheeks.

"I will miss you maa." Sidharth said emotionally.

"Will miss you more. Sudha said hugging him again.

Sudha then went towards Shehnaaz and hugged her. "Dhyaan rakhna apna. Achhe se padhna."

"Hmm. Mujhe bhi chahiye." Shehnaaz demanded.

"Kya?" Sudha asked her.

"Kissy." Shehnaaz replied pointing towards her cheeks. This cracked up all of them.

"Aunty, dhyaan rakhna apna." Saying this Sidharth hugged her but she started sobbing.

"Tu bhi puttar. Apna dhyaan rakhna. Aur iska bhi (pointing towards Shehnaaz). Yeh bahut naadaan hai. Mein isko yahan chhodna bhi chahti hun jisse iska kal achha ho sake par darr bhi lag raha hai." Reet was wiping her tears saying this.

"Aap na bhi kehte toh iska dhyaan rakhta. Ab aapne keh dia hai toh pakka waada." Sidharth assured her.

Sudha and Reet boarded the train and left. Sidharth and Shehnaaz were left behind. As soon as the train left the platform Shehnaaz started crying. Sidharth was consoling her and took her home.
