Ok, I really was not expecting that… They are absolutely nothing alike so I guess that causes some problems for their parents sometimes.

I chased after Claire, literally running because she was walking so fast.

“Claire! Wait up will you!” I called after her.

She looked back surprised then slowed to a stop.

“What is with you?” I asked. “Has seeing Mitch really stirred you up that much?”

“No, I’m just still having a hard time comprehending that he IS my brother. It’s a big change for someone who has always been living alone with their father. Plus the fact that it’s MITCH of all people. We didn’t talk to each other for a month after we first found out that our parents would be getting married. Lot’s of fights followed and we didn’t really give our parents a nice wedding because of it. It’s one of the many things that I regret.”

“Don’t blame yourself.” I said, putting my hand on her shoulder. “I understand that it really is a big change. I can’t even imagine how I would act if another person started living with me and my father. You couldn’t help feeling surprised!”

She nodded and then brightened up slowly.

“Come on! I want to take you out to the garden. It really is beautiful!” she said suddenly, taking my hand and leading me down the hallway.

I followed her willingly out to the garden and gasped.

There were rows and rows of beautiful flowers. All lined up perfectly to make an amazing pattern. There was a little fancy table with chairs to match in the middle of the garden. It was set with pale tea set and those little sandwiches that I thought were only in the movies.

“Oh my god!” I squealed and ran over to the table. “These are so cute!”

I heard a laugh from the other side of the garden and looked up to see Mitch laughing his heart out.

“Mitch!” I heard Claire scream from next to me. “Why are you here!”

“I just thought I would go out for a stroll and it looks like you girls had the same idea. I promise I’m not up to anything sneaky.” He said innocently.

Claire snorted and then fished her phone out of her pocket.

“Mom just texted me saying that they were coming home early. Which means that they could be here any minute and if they catch you here, they will kill Mitch and I.”

“Oh ok. I’ll catch you guys later then!” I shouted as I bounded across the garden and onto the street. I yelled ‘bye’ again and then headed home.

Getting home, I realized that I still had about another hour to go before my tail came back so I decided to head out shopping for a while.

Bad Idea.

I ran into some gang idiots that I had seen at school the day before. They were seriously trying to steal some kids lunch money. Really cliché right? So I used some of my ‘Polaroid skills’ to tell them off. It was actually really funny. They were all bark and no bite. Completely idiots.

But anyway, arriving home for the second time today, dad was still asleep on the couch so I woke him up and helped him up the stairs and into bed.

He really has been pushing it lately. He seems to be always tired, no matter what time it is. I’m really starting to wonder what he does at work.  Why dos he refuse to tell me about it though? I’m just going to have to force it out of him one day ‘cause it is really starting to bother me. If he has to work THAT hard for his job then I will just get him to quit it and find a new one while I get a part-time job.

But I am done thinking about these things for today. Time to get some sleep.

I didn’t realize how tired I was until I was actually laying down. It felt like my body just wouldn’t move anymore, no matter how uncomfortable the position was. So I just tried to get some sleep, quickly.

Dream:

I was alone in an empty shack. It was pitch black outside and the air was freezing. Why does this place seem familiar?  I thought to myself as I looked around, trying to find some way out.

“Maia.” A familiar voice called. I froze. The voice was meant to be warm but I knew the owner to that voice. The owner with a cold, hard heart that only tries to make other hearts the same as its own.

“Maia.” It called again, and I looked toward the direction it came from.

His blonde hair stood out, and his eyes gray eyes looked right through me.

“Did you miss me?” He said, taking a step towards me. I stepped back as an automatic reaction then said “No.” flatly. Putting no emotion into my voice.

“Oh come on.” He said, stepping towards me again. “It’s not everyday that you get to see me is it?”

“I wished that I would see you even less but I guess that no one was listening to my prayers.”

“So cold!” He said, pretending to be hurt.

“Will you just leave me alone!” I almost yelled. I was really starting to get fed up with him. I was done with trying to act cool.

“You don’t really want that do you?” He said, yet again walking towards me.

“How about I just take from you what I took the first time and then you can go home. I’m sure you want to start over new again, right? It’s always fun, starting a new life where you can become any type of person that you want. You get to get rid of your old friends and make new ones, sometimes you even get to get rid of your family! Sounds fun right?”

He kept walking towards me until my back was up against the wood wall.

“Or maybe, I can just let you start a new life in someplace where you know no one. A place where you get a different life. The place where the rest of your family went. Don’t you want to go see them? I’m sure that they miss you.”

I heard a clink and then felt a cold steel blade be pushed up against my throat.

“Who knows, maybe I will send you mother and father to go visit them too.”

I felt my own, warm blood drip onto my bare feet. The pitter-patter of it dripping onto the cold, wood floor made me shiver and shake.

I tried to scream but no voice came out of my throat.

“They won’t hear you this time…” he whispered before he sliced my throat.
