"Oh" the girls says, suddenly remembering something "I'm Claire. What's your name?"
"Maia but everyone calls me Mia"
"Coolio"
I follow Claire to our homeroom and as soon as I walk in, I can feel the stares.
While Claire goes to her seat, I make my way up to the teacher.
"Are you the new student?" he asks, not even looking up from his desk.
I nod my head.
"I'm Mia" I say.
"Well my name is Mr. Sanger and it's a pleasure to have you join our homeroom." he says with the fakest smile I have ever seen.
I give him a big smile. "Thanks! I'm glad to be here!" I say, the sarcasm dripping from my voice.
See, I can fake a smile too! I think at him.
I walk over to Claire and plop down in the seat next to her.
She tries to hide her laughing with coughs but fails miserably.
"You know, it wasn't supposed to be that funny" i whisper to her.
She looks over at me with a big smile on her face. "I know," she says, " But usually everyone is so scared of him that they don't even say anything after he welcomes then into the class. This was a nice change"
Just then, Mr. Sanger stands up from his desk and walks to the front of the room.
"Ms. Amers" he says pointedly at me " you may have already introduced yourself to the class but we have another new student joining us today who hopfully has better manners."
The class turns their heads to the door to get a better look at the new student
My breath catches in my throat and my heart beat speeds up.
He had black hair that fell over his right eye, and the most enchanting, light blue eyes I have ever seen. He was wearing normal jeans and a black Paramore sweatshirt with the hood up.
"Mr. Wells, would you like to introduce yourself to the class?" asked Mr. r
"um, I'm Andrew Wells, and well that's really all I have to say." he said.
I flinched. Something was not right about him. What was it?
"Are you alright Mia?" Claire asked as the new kid took his seat.
At my name, Andrews head snapped up and he stared at me. Weird.
"Ya I'm fine. I'm just getting this weird feeling."
"Maybe you should go to the nurse after homeroom?" she suggested, worry in her eyes.
"No its ok. Plus, I can't miss any of my classes on my first day!" i said faking a smile.
Maybe I should ask dad if the council was sending any undercover Polaroids here to keep and eye on me. I wish they would stop doing that. It was starting to get really annoying, knowing that they were watching my every move, and if i did anything wrong they would know about it. Talk about having no privacy!
