The moment I walked into LA I knew I was in trouble. Mrs.Bernes was giving me a scared and worried look that said 'your in trouble'.

"Mia dear" she said "You mother is on the phone in the office."

My face paled and I'm sure that everyone in class noticed. I sneaked a look at Andrew and saw that he was looking at me with a confused look. Yep, he noticed.

My mother was known for starting some shouting fits on the phone with me. She doesn't care that I'm in class and the school knows that so they let me talk to her whenever she calls. Basically it starts out as a normal phone call but sometime in the middle it always turns out as a shouting match. Sometimes it is between me and her but most of the time it is between her and my half-brother, Marc. Yes, I have a brother. He is a full polaroid because his father and mother were polaroids. Obviously we have different fathers. But anyway, they get into fights often and whenever they do, you can hear it all throughout the school. Most of the time I like ot hang up on them and then when they call me back they have calmed down but it isn't always that easy.

So I slowly made my way up to office and opened the door. I looked at the secretary's face and mouthed an 'I'm sorry' at her as I picked up the phone. She left the room as my mother started talking.

"So! How is it with Andrew?" she screeched into the phone.

"Mom," I started. "It has been two hours since I got into school. Do you really need to ask that now?"

"Yes I do for two reason. One, I'm curious and two, I'm bored out of my mind!"

I sighed. "Really mother? Really?"

"Yes Really! Do you know how boring it gets in this world? There is nothing interesting to do! I really wish that you would just move back here. It would be better for your father anyway, its hard for a human to know about us."

"Mother, there is no way that I am moving back. For multiple reasons that you know of."

"Oh come on sweetie! I heard that he and his father were moving to the other side of Entyclo! Do you know how far away that is? You would probably never see him again if you came back!"

"Mom I already told you. It is out of the question. I'm not taking the chance. Why can't you understand that?"

"Fine, but I will get you back here one day!"

"Mom, you're insane."

"Don't call your mother insane, dear."

"Mother, I really need to get back to class."

I heard a muffled voice on the other side of the phone and got ready to hang up. But the shouting didn't start. Instead my half-brother, Marc came onto the phone.

"Hey half-sis!" he said.

"Marc, you don't have to add on the 'half' part to it. You can just call me sis."

"But it feels weird because, you know, my real sister."

"Ok fine, call me what you want. So what's up?"

I heard more muffled voices coming out of the phone and could tell that they came from my mother.

"You know Marc, I really have to get back to class and you seem busy with mum anyways so I'm just gonna go..." I said as I started to lower the phone.

It didn't seem like he heard me so I just hung up before any shouting started.

As I walked out of the office the secretary gave me a confused look. I guess she was wondering why there wasn't any shouting today.

"They seemed to be in a good mood today." I said smiling at her.

She nodded and smiled back at me.

I looked up at the clock. I had already missed the rest of school so I just made my way to my locker.

"Hey Mia."

Mitch walked over to me and leaned against a locker near mine.

"Oh, hey Mitch."

"So um, I wanted to know if you were comin to the game tonight. Its the first one of the season and most people in the school are going to be there."

I shook my head. "No sorry, I have other things that I need to...take care of tonight."

"Oh, ok. Maybe next game?"

"Yea, sure, maybe next game." I repeated. To be honest, I don't think I will go to any other their games but I didn't want to say anything. His face said 'Don't be mean to me, I'm just a poor little puppy dog.'

He said goodbye and then walked off down the hallway. As I looked around I saw that some of the other girls in the school were staring at me.

Ha! I though, They must not like Mitch talking to the new girl.

I opened my locker and started to pack up my things.

"Hey Mia!" I heard  a familiar voice call out to me.

Who could it be this time?

"Oh hey Claire!" I said as she ran over to me.

"Hey, do you want to hang out at my house tonight?"

"Umm, sure but I will have to check with my dad first. So can we stop by my place on the way?"

"Of course! I don't want to get you in trouble with your dad!"

Actually the reason I have to go home is so I can pick up a few pills. But obviously I'm not going to tell her that!

So we drove in Claire's car to my house. I hopped out of the car and ran for the door.

"Hey dad!" I called, going into the living room.

Again, he was asleep on the couch. So I just left a little note for him and kissed him on his forehead.

Dad,

I'm going over to my new friend Claire's house. I don't know how long I will be over there so If I'm not back by 7 then just finish up the pasta in the fridge. Yes, I'm taking my pills so don't worry about me.

Love you, Mia

"There" I said to myself as I put the note on the kitchen counter.

I went up to my bathroom and picked up my travel kit of pills out of the cabniet. This should last me up to ten hours.

I ran out the door and hopped right back into Claire's car.

"Ok, we can go now. Where exactely is your house anyway?" I asked.

"You will just have to find out. Just promise me that you won't freak when you find out."

I nodded "Fine."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My eyes widened as we entered the richest distrect in the neighborhood. Then they widened again as we entered the driveway of the biggest house.

"Claire, you l-!" I started.

"I told you not to freak out! I hate it when my friends freak out because I live here. It gets really annoying sometimes."

"Oh, sorry."

"come on lets go." She said, hopping out of the car.

I followed her up to the front door and watched in amazment as maids and butlers greeted us as we walked in.

This may take a little getting used to.
