“Mia!” dad called from upstairs. “Can you come down here for a second please?”
I hopped my way down the stairs, tail swaying behind me. “What is it dad?”
“Well…uh…you know, earlier this morning you asked me a rather, unexpected question and I thought about it all day today and decided that you have to the right to know.” He said, ending in a rush. Sometimes, I was really surprised that he was my dad, he really didn’t act like one sometimes.
“Cool! So what is it?” I asked.
“Well, I thought it would make more sense to show you instead of just telling you about it. You sort of have to see it to know what I’m talking about.”
I nodded and followed him out of the kitchen and into the living room.
“Dad…where exactly is your work?”
He pulled on one of the books on the bookcase and a secret door opened up.
“Dad…? Is our house haunted or something?”
He didn’t reply and beckoned me to follow him through the door.
Now, I’m being totally serious here: We went through a portal. Yes, a portal.
I’m not even sure if that’s the name for it but it felt like one.
Next thing I know, I’m in the living room of my mothers house in the Other World.
“Dad…?” I start, dragging out the end in a suspicious tone. “Mind explaining to me what YOU are doing HERE?!”
He opened his mouth to answer but didn’t get the chance.
“Richard!” a familiar voice yelled. “You have better be done organizing those storage units! Don’t make me go get Mol-“
The King cut off mid sentence when he saw me.
“Maia! It’s so nice to see you again! You have been well I assume?”
I nodded. “Yes, your highness. Now, uh, what exactly did you say that me father must be done doing…?” I said sternly.
The king stuttered, but caught himself.
“Your father has agreed to do some labor for the kingdom until he can find a better job.” He coughed and looked over at my father. “Now, why are you here?” he asked.
“Well, Dad has been so tired lately, and doesn’t seem to be getting much sleep so I was curious about where he was working. Never in my mind had I thought that he would be doing…this.”
Dad looked at me with an uncomfortable look and said “How about you go visit your mother’s place. I’m sure that Marc misses you. It’s been such a long time since we’ve been here.”
I nodded.
Walking over to the door, I waved to them, not looking back and left the room.
The sunlight blinded me when I first stepped out, into the cool air. Dad was right, it had been such a long time since I’ve been here and I really missed it.
Obviously, walking through the markets I got quite a lot of stares. Some people even had the indecency to shout out some pretty inappropriate names to me. The pills had already worn off so my tail was sticking out, making me look relatively normal. But the fact that I didn’t have any ears…
“Maia!” a familiar voice called. I spun around and saw Marc bounding over to me. “What are you doing over here all of a sudden? Especially alone in the market! What are you thinking?”
Before I could get a word out, Marc placed a baseball cap on my head and starts dragging me down the street.
When we reach my mother’s house, Marc says, “ Now, please try not to faint or be too disgusted. Both mom and I have been really busy lately so we haven’t had much time to… clean up.”
I looked at him with a confused expression, but that was soon replaced with a wide eyes and gawking mouth one.
I swear, you couldn’t see the floor. No, it’s not like there was a bunch of stuff on it but there was dust EVERYWHERE. Though, there was still a pretty good amount of stuff all around. Luckily, it didn’t smell as bad as it looked, but it still smelled… To be honest, there is NOTHING good to say about this.
“What did you do!?!” I yelled at Marc. “More like, what didn’t you do!”
He sighed and led me into his bedroom. Gladly, it wasn’t as messy as the rest of the house. It looked like a normal teenage boys bedroom. Unorganized.
“ I told you! We’ve just been really busy lately and haven’t had time to really clean up. I’ve had to start working almost 12 hour shifts ‘cause mom isn’t making much at the moment. Even though she is supposedly spending all of her time at work! I’m starting to think that she isn’t even working anymore!”
I put my hands on his shoulders to calm him down. “Marc, it’s ok. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to yell at you like that. I was just.. surprised at the mess. How about I help you clean it? I have nothing else to do with my time.” I suggested. He nodded and we set to work.
This is going to take a while…

2) As I said, I've been pretty busy lately so I'm not going to have a lot of time to actually write for a lot of my stories. I'll try my hardest but... no promises!
