"Survival is all that matters to me. To see my people flourish and alive is what matters." ~ Eden 'Queen' Sydney

It was a straightforward day, help some patients and then go home

It was a straightforward day, help some patients and then go home. Today was anything but that. Chancellor Sydney graced me with her presence, and that would be a day I would never forget, and a day I would unknowingly regret being at the clinic. By her side was a platinum-blond girl who I had never seen before.

"Dr. Griffin. This is my daughter, Eden. She has come with a request of you," The Chancellor informed me, stoically like usual.

I nodded in confusion; I knew the chancellor had a daughter, but no one's ever seen her. Chancellor Sydney was a very secretive person; hell, she even kept her child away from everyone. So, what could she possibly want from me?

The girl walked closer with her back straight with her hands behind her back, and wearing a blank expression. "Dr. Griffin. It would please me much if you allowed me to shadow you; I wish to train in medicine," she requested, but it felt more than a demand than a request. She really is Diana's daughter, huh?

"How old are you, Eden?" I asked softly. She looked young physically but seemed much older and more mature.

Eden narrowed her eyes and replied, "I am nine."

I nodded slowly; what would a nine-year-old want to do shadowing me? Even Clarke wasn't that interested in medicine yet, and she was the same age. She would rather play and draw with her father.

"What about your friends? Being my apprentice will take a lot of your time," I informed her, trying to persuade her no. I didn't want to have a child around the clinic, but I couldn't say no, not to the chancellor.
