"Father?" The question burned Penny's mind. Why she hadn't checked whether or not Sam let himself get rejected? Now she was owing him not only explanation, but also an apology. She was so surprised that she didn't know what to do now. She had two shallow thought at the black end of her mind, but both of them were unreliable in this case. She thought she could make it seemed like nothing of what, she guessed by Sam's facial expression, he thought he had just heard was real. But playing a jokes and hiding suprises from Sam was already hard for her, it always turned out that he got to know secrets from her. Even Elvis wasn't as quick as her! So she quickly decided it wasn't a way out.
That's how she decided that who like who, but Sam as her best friend and friend who was not so mischevious like Ellie sometimes was, deserved to know the truth. But she needed to save some time to put it together in her head first, so 'a little joke or two won't hurt' she thought as she walked a step pass Sam.

"Do you want to stand here like a tree, Sam?"

It took him a while to hear Penny's words, but when he did, she had already disappeared from his view. But, with help, came Station Officer Steele who gave Sam a sign by cleaning his throat.

"Sam, Penny can be really strong, but she likes to keep things to herself, in diffrence to you, but she also need someone to talk to" he started a quick advise, but Sam felt what was at the bottom of it and he wanted to stop it in the right time, but the elder man didn't let him. "You will surely find her near Venus, she likes to sit there when something's wrong. As you nearby Jupiter" he added, but Sam stopped listening, knowing too well that Station Officer Steele would really much like to see him and Penny together not only as best friends, but it was shining as impossible in Sam's mind.

So Sam left once again to look for Penny. From a moment she came to Pontypandy, Sam felt more happy, it was a best choice of words for it, other ways didn't let it out good. Quickly he, Penny and Elvis became friends, however later when she still kept on staying under his shadow, they began to develop their friendship. Then the situation started to be harder for him, because... well, such things showed he wasn't as good in using words as he thought.
He found that woman who could change his mind about anything in the corner of garage, sitting opposite Venus 2, in the same way she did back then before the talk he had witnessed. He slowly went in her direction, hesitating whether or not to ask for her permission. However it turned out that Penny didn't pay attention and Sam didn't want to distrube it either, so he just sat down next to her in silence.

"It seems to me that I heard something I shouldn't have, should I?" Sam broke the silence that slowly put a tense atmosphere between then when  they were alone in firestation's garage.

"Maybe it is good, Sam, that you heard" Penny's shallow voice came back to reality. "But have you heard everything?" She asked, turning her face to Sam.

"I guess I standed there long enough" Sam confessed, rubbing the back of neck in embarrassment. "But you good?" He laid his hand on her shoulder and gently squeezed it to get her attention once more.

"With that one friend I can always lean on, how can I not be good?" She joked, a playful smile shone for a short second on her face, brightening her eyes, but it took only a second.

"But in some things even that can't help" Sam sighed and leaned on the wall even harder. He knew that feeling when even the closest and most reliable friend couldn't be a help. It was even more worse when you didn't have a courage to face the trouble totally on your own.

"You heard that Boyce is my father, didn't you?" Penny asked, but this time her voice was totally burned from any emotions. Sam just nodded his head in silent way of saying yes. He didn't know what to say as an apology about his spying, nevertheless he felt like the words wouldn't change anything. "I'm perfectly aware that no one of you could expect that, but..."
