Chapter 8
It seemed like an eternity has passed, an eternity of stomach gnawing panic rising and nervousness made my heart beat incredibly fast. The clock ticked slowly but in reality it was ticking normal. Gio was watching TV eager to see his grandparents, the clock ticked closer and closer to the 12:00pm time. I heard a soft honking and then the muffed vibrations of the car pulling into the driveway.
God, please, give me patience.
I heard the doorbell rang and Giovannie darted to the front door while I walked slowly. I saw my mother walk in with a single suitcase and a large handbag. She was wearing a large sunhat and big round white sunglasses. She bent down and hung the bouncy Giovannie and then she got up and looked at me.
“Poppet, come hug your momma,” she said with arms out.
“Hello mother,” I said hugging her.
“Oh my baby,” she groaned rocking me sideways in a hard embrace.
“Okay mom, okay,” I said patting her back.
She let me go and kissed my cheek before walking off.
My father grunted in carrying several suitcases and set them on the floor.
“Dad,” I said smiling holding my arms out and approached him.
He held out his hand instead, “Oh,” I said dropping one arm and shook his hand with the other.
The my brother walked in carrying a duffel bag.
“Baby brother,” he said holding out an arm and got me in a one armed hug.
“Hey Shane,” I said patting his hard back.
Once everyone was in I closed the door behind them.
“Okay, mom, dad, your room is the same. Shane, Giovannie took your room so you are gonna have to find another. My room is in the same place.”
“Why did Giovannie got my room?” Shane asked disappointed.
“Because it huge,” Gio said.
“My man,” he said and picked him up.
Gio squealed and giggled when Shane tossed him in the air and caught him.
“Shane be careful, I only have one son and I don't want you breaking him.”
“Don't worry I ain't going to hurt the squirt,” he said tickling him. Giovannie squealed with laughter and Shane set him down and he knelt down to his level, “how about we share a room, we could be roommates.” Shane said excitedly.
“YEAH!!! Can we dad,” Gio said giving me the puppy eyes.
“Fine,” I muttered and they were off toward their room.
“You know hunny, you could have vacuumed some more,” my mother said walking out of the room they were staying in.
My eyes twitched softly, “Yes mother, how careless of me,” I said monotonous.
“So, what are we having for dinner?” she said looking around.
“I am taking you all out to eat,” I said quickly.
“Okay, where we doing?”
“Applebees.”
“We'll leave in a few, your father likes to eat early, so get dressed,” she said and turned and walked back into her room.
