Khalin peered down at the phone she'd just retrieved from the table, reading off the name of the game.

Answer three questions correctly, and you will survive the game. Answer three questions wrongly, and you will be hung. Choose not to answer, and you will be hung. You have three strikes before you are hung. She frowned, peering up at the gallows that stood before her. Niragi scoffed at the rules, not taking it so seriously. Khalin however, felt very anxious. She just hoped that the questions weren't involving maths... or she would most certainly be hung.
"Good luck, newbie." Niragi smirked, walking over to the gallows. Two others took their places, leaving only one left for her.
"Good luck... dog." She chuckled when he scowled at the nickname.
Taking her place, she stared at the white screen, the rope feeling uncomfortable as she tightened it properly. The first question was up on the board, causing her breathing to become uneven. She hastily typed in her answer, keeping her fingers and toes crossed. There was a chime, then one of the players dropped a couple of inches, making it harder for them to breathe. Her eyes widened at the sudden drop, her nerves kicking into overdrive.
Before she could properly assess the situation, her fingers had already gripped the dagger she had hidden away in her boot, tearing the blade from its sheath. She brought it up to the rope, beginning to saw at it. Another question popped up. This time she had ten minutes to answer it. It was, of course, a math problem that she knew she wouldn't solve in time.
With the clock counting down, she sawed faster. The rope began to unravel as she made the motions. With five seconds counting down, the rope around her neck finally broke free, falling from her. She sighed with relief, then rushed over to Niragi.
"How did you- But this is a diamonds game. You're not supposed to-"
"Diamonds is about smarts and being clever, is it not?" She raised a brow, easily cutting his rope. "I was smart enough to not only carry a weapon with me, but to also use said weapon in my favour." The rope fell from around his neck. She hastily saved the last player, earning a thank you. A chime sounded throughout the arena.
"Game complete. All surviving players have earned a five day visa. Congratulations."
"You were saying?" Khalin smirked, helping the person up.
"I was saying... that you're pretty badass."
"That's what I thought."
"Boshiya's definitely going to give you a good title. You might have even earned executive status."
"Why not militant status?" She frowned at the thought of not having access to all of those fancy weapons. She could definitely put those to good use.
"If you want militant status, you're going to have to win at either a clubs game, or a spades game." He answered.
"What are those ones like?"
"Clubs is more team oriented, and Spades is more strength oriented."
"Spades seems like the one I would be best at. I'm not really a team player."
"Aguni will be the judge of that. He's the one who tests all of the militants. All militants are required to go through testing once every few games."
"Well, then. I can't wait to be tested."
