A/N: Hi! I apologize for that it takes years for me to update. I'm not so active on Wattpad, which I myself thinks is a pity. But I'll try to do better. Also, I want to apologize if my grammar is not always accurate. I'm a swede so English isn't my mother tongue:)
Anyway, I hope you like the story and have a happy Friday!

"Damn, it hurts!" Caroline complained.
The sharp blade was stuck in Caroline's chest. She cast a pleading glance at Stefan, who already was on his way towards her.
He crouched down beside her and with his right hand, he took a firm grip on the knife.
"Ready?" he asked softly and took his left hand in hers.
She nodded slowly. With a sweep, he pulled the knife out of her body and she let out a scream of pain.
"Easy, Caroline. It's okay now." Stefan said, and stroked lovingly her cheek.
"I'm so gonna kill that bitch."
Stefan turned around and saw Damon's hatefully burning eyes. But there was one problem. Katherine had vanished as quickly as she had come.
"Uhm Damon." Stefan whispered.
"What?"
"There are humans in here. We have to compel all of them."

One hour later, when all the people had left the house, Bonnie flinched.
"Where's Elena?"
"You don't know where she is?!" Alaric added.
"Are you looking for me?"
Everyone in the room turned their heads and saw Elena, who came in through the back door.
"Where the hell have you been?" Matt asked.
Elena looked confused.
"I have just been out. Was getting some fresh air." she explained.
"For more than one hour?"
Elena started to scratch her head. She didn't understand anything. One hour? What were they talking about? And where was all the people?
It looked like Damon read her mind, because he answered her questions."Katherine was here. She started to flirt with me, after that with Stefan, Stefan probably wounded her ego, then she stabbed Caroline with a knife and poof! The bitch was gone and the party was over." Damon said and gestured with his arms.
Without caring about that the party had been ruined Elena immediately started to become worried.
"Is Caroline okay?"
Damon rolled his eyes. Elena saw his expression and interpreted it as he thought it was the stupidest question he had ever got.
"She's a vampire, Elena. A knife in the chest won't kill her."

Caroline lay on Stefan's bed and she could feel the sweat bead on her forehead. She sat up and took a deep breath.
"I don't understand why it still hurts. The pain usually subsides pretty fast, but it doesn't ... at all."Her anxiety started to infect on Stefan. He was not "the one worrying unnecessarily-person", but Stefan began to wonder about her condition. Why didn't it heal?
"Don't ..." Caroline interrupted him in his deep thoughts.
"What?" He tried to play unmoved.
"It's bad, isn't it? Something's wrong and it shines right through you that you are hiding something from me. "
Shit. He must be like an open book. Either that, or she knew him very well. But what would he say? Stefan was as unknowing as she was. The incertitude was tormenting him.
"Caroline ... I wish I could tell you that I am not the least bit worried, but I can't. I am worried, yes."
She did not respond to Stefan's recognition. She just let it be, just let it drain out of the sand.
"Well done, Stefan ..." he started to accuse himself for saying what he just said. Was it really necessary to aggravate, it all?
Suddenly he heard a faint sound of someone standing in the doorway.
"It's okay Elena. Step forward, I know you're here." he said without even glancing towards the door.
"Well, it was not my intention to eavesdrop ... " she explained.
"But now you did, so let's get over it." He was fully aware that he sounded mad, but that's the point. He just wanted to tease a little.
Elena emits a deep sigh and take some steps forward to the bed. Unfortunate, she watch her best friend who has fallen into a deep sleep.
"Have you watched under the top portion of the dress?" Elena asked.
That question came so suddenly. To him, it sounded more like an accusation than a question.
"No, why would I?"
"I was thinking if you had checked what the wound was like." she replied quite unperturbed.
"Oh ..." Now, it dawned on him what she meant.
"What did you thought I meant?" Yep, she began to understand how he had interpreted it. Awkward.
"Never mind." Stefan replied, gesturing with his hand.
Because Stefan did not take any initiative to check, Elena did it instead.
What her eyes were met by made her feel sick. She put her hand in front of her mouth to avoid the risk of vomiting. Stefan felt it was not worthwhile to ask what the problem was, so he checked it out by himself.
He had understanding for Elena's reaction when he was met by a huge infected wound which had turned into a black shade. There was a rush and Stefan knew exactly who he wanted to get help from.
"Bonnie, get up here! Now!"
In just a few seconds Bonnie came up with Damon right behind her. Stefan gave her a sign to come and check Caroline's chest. Bonnie looked confused, but she did as she was told.
When she had looked, her gaze became stiff. Suddenly, she began searching around the room, like she was looking for something.
"What are you looking for?" Damon asked and wrinkled his eyebrows.
"Where's the knife?" She was straight to the point and she sounded very serious.
"Here ..." Elena took the knife from the nightstand and handed it to Bonnie.
Quickly, Bonnie took it out of Elena's hand and started to smell on it ...? Both Elena and Stefan started to wrinkle their eyebrows too. What was she doing?
She didn't name a sound for almost one minute and that made Damon irritated
"Ey, doggie ... Are you gonna smell that knife the whole day or are you gonna tell us what you're actually are doing?"
She looked directly up when she came out of her trance.
"There's something wrong with this knife. Either it's cursed or poisoned."
