I woke up warm and comfortable next to Matt the next morning. He was still peacefully sleeping like an angel and looking so beautiful, anyone lucky enough to be with him would definitely admire his body the way I did. Or maybe that was just me. Either way I couldn't help it.
Seeing all those scars from all of his battles as Daredevil left me wondering about how brave he was. He risks his life for the city and there were still people being mean and trying to knock him down as if he was bad.
I knew nothing could ever change his mind, but my heart was aching only from picturing how he could possibly get so many scars over his body. Hell's Kitchen did not deserve him.
Matt was waking up, slowly opening his eyes a few minutes later and looking for me with his hand touching my belly.
"Hey, Mr. Murdock"
"Good morning Miss Davies" he said smiling "were you awake already? Have you been watching me sleep?"
"I won't speak without my lawyer present"
"I am your lawyer"
"Then, yes. Maybe I was watching you sleep, sir"
"Serial killer vibes, I see" he said jokingly.
"Just wanted to make sure you were sleeping well"
"I had an amazing night, I slept more than well"
"That's even better" I said getting closer to his face.
I wasn't sure what to do since Matt didn't seem to be interested in having a serious relationship with me and I wasn't interested in a 'situationship'. As I was getting closer to him, I ended up shyly kissing his cheek. Matt smiled to that and quickly turned all his body over to me. Seemed like he wasn't sure either on what to do. He gently caressed my face with his warm hand.
"We need to check-out" I said regarding leaving the hotel.
"I am comfortable, but you're right" he agreed.
Matt quickly kissed my forehead, left the bed and went to the restroom to start getting ready to go back home in Hell's Kitchen as he had a lot of work to do and prepare for another trial during the next day.
He got a call from Jessica, his private investigator friend who had some new information about Fisk's interests and important stuff we could use in court against them. She agreed to testify and help us in the courtroom. Hopefully it was going to be our last trial and we had to win the case. We needed Foggy for that. He didn't seem to be in his best mood lately.
Matt and I got on the train to return to Hell's Kitchen when suddenly came to my mind how Fisk had no mercy and killed Dylan in front of Sarah. Dylan was not a good person, but I didn't want him to be dead. I spent three years of my life with him, he obviously meant something to me liking it or not.
Matt noticed something was wrong with me and tried to make me feel better making some jokes over literally anything that was around us. Although I tried to laugh and pretend I was fine, he knew me. He knew me and I knew him like we were part of each other. Like we belonged together and none of us was smart enough in that field of love to know all about what we were missing.
"Do you want to talk about it?" he interrupted my daydreaming.
"Sorry, what?"
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah-"
"I know you're lying, Ava. Was it something I said or done?"
"No! You haven't done anything wrong. I loved spending every second together with you" I reassured him making him smile.
