XXIX - The Storm

Foggy and I met up at the coffee shop after work like we were planning on doing. I showed him the photo I had received earlier that day.

"You're right. It had to be her" he said talking about Elektra being the unknown sender of the text message.

"Right? Who else would it be?" I rhetorically asked.

"I mean, it is probably an old photo anyway. I bet she's only trying to piss you off"

"It doesn't look like an old photo to me"

"How do you know? He is shirtless"

"He had this bruise on his eye when he met me" I said pointing at the photo on my phone.

"I bet she's manipulating him, Ava. Matt can be a lot of things, but he would never cheat on you"

"If he broke up with me, he's not really cheating"

"She's clearly using him! It's not the first time and I know him very well. I think"

"You think, Foggy? All I know is that my life was a lot better and stress-free a few months ago without him. I can't believe I said that"

"Come on, you're not giving up now. It took you two so long for you to be together"

"Maybe we're not meant to be together"

"Yes, you are! Come with me. We're going to Matt's place right now"

Foggy ended up convincing me to go to Matt's place, but he was obviously not there and still not picking up his phone calls.

"Told you he wouldn't be here" I started.

"At least we tried" Foggy answered.

"I gotta go"

"Are you really going home right now? He can be in danger. It has happened before"

"We're not Daredevil's bodyguards, Foggy. He chose this life" I said quickly turning around and bumping against a tall guy. "I'm sorry"

"Do you know him?" the young looking man asked. He had beautiful blue eyes and blond curly hair.

"Know who? No! We don't, do we? Nope, we do not" I nervously answered him.

"I am a friend of him. Murdock"

"Yeah, he is" Foggy confirmed as he knew the guy.

"I am Danny, by the way" he said giving me his hand to shake.

"I am Ava" I said shaking his hand. "Do you know where Matt is?"

"He's not home?"

"That's a no, then. He's not home and we have no idea where he is"

"That's weird. He told me to come here"

As I heard those words, I immediately became angry. More than ever before. Whatever was going on with Matt, that was absolutely unacceptable. I started heavily knocking on the door again.

"Calm down, you're going to hurt yourself" Foggy tried to stop me.

"I know he is in there, Fog. I am not leaving until he-" I said yelling until I heard the door opening.

Matt was on the other side of the door looking as innocent as ever, but I could not care less. He left us behind leaving the door open for us to get in, so I did. I walked quickly behind him and could not hide my anger. He turned around facing me and I slapped him hard on his face.

"Yeah, I deserved that" he said.

Words wouldn't come out of my mouth. I started crying and feeling some sort of hate towards him. It was a feeling a could not explain. I still liked him, but not what he was doing to me for so long. Nobody would.
