The night before this battle, the autarch Eldarion and the exarch Kirliata were at the side of the matriarch Velidia to prepare the troops. They themselves had put on their armor, recovered their weapons and received the battle blessings from the hands of Archdeacon Nandis and her priestesses. Once the battle preparations were over, Eldarion and Kirliata had embraced each other and were struggling to find sleep.
At the dawn of Eldarion’s 1854th birthday, Batilga’s horn of war echoed throughout the city. As expected, the armies of the Maltazard felion arrived and stood facing the wall of Batilga, but to the great surprise of the archangel Argel'Tal, the opposing soldiers were fewer than she thought. Even more strange, neither Maltazard nor Tarantula seemed to participate in the battle. Quickly, the garrison of the city spread out on all the walls and in front of the doors.
The support company of the patriarch Erebus posted on the walls proved effective, and pushed back the wave of seides that was pressing at the gates of the city by releasing on them a torrential deluge of magical projectiles and spells. The survivors tried to retreat by leaving where they had arrived. It was at this moment that Argel'Tal sent her assault companies to intercept and capture the fugitives for questioning.
The autarch Eldarion took command of his brigade and ordered his soldiers to catch up with the remaining seides. Unfortunately, in the chase, Velidia, Eldarion and Kirliata realized that the Nyrilorns had been far too confident. When they managed to intercept the fugitives, they fell into an ambush laid by Maltazard who soon overwhelmed the Nyrilorns outside the city. Worse still, the army surrounding them was not only made up of sesides, but also of poisoners evils led by the Poisoner Tarantula.
At the sight of this dreadful spectacle, the archangel Argel'Tal knew that the situation was rapidly catastrophic, and ordered all his armies to retaliate. All the support companies then posted themselves on the walls of Batilga and tried to appease their fellow fighters outside the ramparts with their powerful spells and long-distance magic weapons. Meanwhile, the air assault company of the matriarch Velidia engaged in the fight against mosquitoes and poisoners in the air.
Eldarion approached a mosquito standing in his way, then under the frightened eyes of the Sebid rider, he beat the mosquito with his fists until he knocked it out, condemning it to an imminent crash. Then he went back into the air, trying to avoid the evil spells of the poisonous who had targeted him. One of the spells had hit him in the right leg, wounding him there. Overcoming the pain, he continued his flight, bringing down lightning on enemy troops on the ground, but his priority was Tarantula. By neutralizing her, he could hurt the morale of the enemy army, and the Nyrilorns could regain control.
Alas, it was not Eldarion who first found Tarantula, but it was the opposite, and as he had just laid eyes on her, she cast a curse on his face. Disoriented and bewildered by this spell, Eldarion lost his balance and began to fall as his magic wings disappeared from his back. When Eldarion touched the ground, the impact of his fall was severe enough to knock him down in the midst of the corpses of the soldiers fighting on the ground.
