Inconvenient Love

Getting a Date

The next day I walk to Jericho, the small town near Nevermore. I love going to the coffee shop called The Weathervane. Every afternoon I get a hot chocolate so the barista there knows my order well. I go every day no matter what. When I walk in, Ms. Thornhill, one of my teachers, is talking to Tyler the barista. I set my stuff down and go to the counter. When Tyler sees me he walks over.

"Hey, Victoria, I already made your hot chocolate! I added the two squirts of milk and double marshmallows like you like." He handed it to me and smiled.

I feel my cheeks flush with color as I quickly turn around and head to my table. Yes I totally have a crush on him. He's sweet, cute, and makes coffee. What's not to like? I met him on my first day here and have come here everyday since. I'm sipping my hot chocolate and scrolling through instagram when Ms. Thornhill sits across from me. I look up confused.

"So," she says holding out the O. "You seem to be close with the barista. Tell me everything."

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"Well he smiled when you walked in and he knew your order plus had it ready for you."

"Well I come at the same time every day so he knows me and has memorized my order."

"Okay," Ms. Thornhill huffs. "You don't have to tell me but you have to tell him. Excuse me, can you come here?"

"Wait what?" My eyes grow wide as Tyler walks over.

"Hi," she says, "I'm Ms. Thornhill and this is my student Victoria, who I assume you already know."

"Yes," he nods, looking confused.

"Well, I was wondering if you'd like to go on a date with her."

I slid down in my chair as she talked trying to become invisible.

"Oh um, yeah!"

I sat up straight quickly.

"Would Saturday at six work?" He asked.

I nod vigorously.

"Perfect," she smiles, "It's a date." Ms. Thornhill walked out and almost immediately Wednesday walks in. Tyler runs over trying to fix the espresso machine. I pull out my phone again and text Enid.

Enid guess what?!

I just got a Date with Tyler from The Weathervane!!!!!

Enid

No way!!

We have to find you an outfit stat!!

Me

Meet me in the square it thirty minutes and we can go shopping

I got up and walked into the square to wait for Enid. After a while she runs over and hugs me squealing. We walk to one of the clothes stores and I try on tons of new clothes before finding the perfect outfit.

That night as Yoko and I are painting our nails we hear someone playing a song outside on a cello. We stop painting and listen for a second. When it stops we return to our nails and gossip.

The next night there was a carnival so I went with Enid and Yoko and we go ride the ferris wheel first before playing games and riding even more rides. I have so much fun with them and even win a large panda stuffed animal with the help of my magic. I used my telekinesis to guide darts to the balloon and Enid cheered a bunch as I was handed the panda.

When we got back to school we were put on lock down.
