Weathervane

Xavier and I walked over to The Weathervane.

"This is going to be so boring." Xavier groaned.

As we walked up to the counter I made eye contact with Tyler and I blushed.

"Hey Victoria!" He called. "You're really earlier than normal. Want a hot chocolate, two milks?"

"Not right now, Tyler." I smile. "We're actually here for outreach day. This is my friend Xavier."

"Oh yeah, Xavier, the artist. Nice to see you." he puts his hand out to shake.

"Yeah, okay." Xavier ignores his hand. Tyler gives us uniforms and we change in the bathrooms. When I come out I show Tyler and spin.

"Looking good, Victoria," he laughed. I accidentally fell while spinning and he caught me. We both burst out laughing but stopped as soon as Xavier walked out.

"So," Tyler began the tour. "Here we have our cash register. All you do is find the order, make the changes and then click checkout. The customer will use either card or money. Card goes here and all you do is wait. And money goes here. You click on cash type in how much it is and the screen will tell you what to give back. You give it back and hope for a tip. These are our treats. If they order one all you do is use these tongs to grab it and put it in this bag."

"Great!" I smile, "This will be fun. Right Xavier?"

"Yeah," he smiles faintly.

"Good! Xavier you can do the pastries and Victoria you can do the cash register. And I'll make the drinks."

For the first hour we only had a couple customers but after 11:30 people started flooding in. While we were working, Principal Weems comes in and orders a coffee. It was honestly awkward to take her order but she was polite. When Ms. Thornhill walks in, she sees me talking to Tyler and she waves a bit.

"So what are we doing tonight?" I ask, flirting a bit.

"Well," Tyler came a bit closer. "I was thinking we could go see the drive-in movie then drive to a campsite to watch the stars and eat s'mores."

"Sounds romantic," I smile.

We pull apart as we hear the door open. Wednesday walks in. Xavier goes over to talk to her.

3rd POV

"I thought you were supposed to be at Piligrim World." Xavier says to Wednesday.

"I deserted it while my sanity was still intact." she responded.

"Oh yeah? You want a coffee? It's one of the many perks of the wonderful assignment," he said with sarcasm.

"I'm actually here for Tyler." she said. Xavier's smile dropped.

"I told you he was bad news."

"Twice. But who I speak to is my business."

Wednesday rang the bell and Tyler walked over from where he was talking to Victoria. Xavier scoffed and walked over to Victoria, who was taking an order.

"Want the usual?" Tyler asked Wednesday.

"And some help." she nodded.

Victoria's POV

Xavier is trying to tell me to stay away from Tyler.

"You know I don't like him!" He said.

"And I do, so it doesn't matter you can't control who I hang out with."

"Why doesn't anyone listen to me? I told Wednesday he's a bad guy and she asks for his help. I tell you he destroyed my art and you flirt with him!"

"Um, well, actually." I look up at Xavier worried. "I have a date with him tonight."

"You what?"

"Yeah um, well we've known each other for a while and decided to try it out."

"That's so stupid victoria! What's wrong with you!"

"Look, Xavier I am going on this date and if I think he's like you say I won't flirt or go on a date with him ever again. I promise."

"Fine," he rolled his eyes.

"Hey," Tyler says walking over. "What's going on?"

"Nothing," Xavier shoved him out of the way and walked over to the counter.

Tyler and I were distracted by a customer and no one got the chance to talk again as more people came in. After a while Tyler took a break to go talk to his dad and Xavier took a break to see Ajax leaving me alone. Luckily no one came in while they were gone and Tyler came back before it was time to leave.

"Bye Tyler," I say, "can't wait to see you tonight." I wink as I leave.

I meet Enid and Yoko in the town square and we sit together in the bleachers. As we are watching the band the statue of Joseph Crackstone explodes into fire. I quickly run over and chant a spell making water spew from my hand and onto the statue. Thankfully, the fire department came and put out the fire.

Right before we return to Nevermore I get my hot chocolate to go and get on the bus.
