My soldier ~ Bucky Barnes X Reader

Part 6 ~ he's back

Early the next morning, you were woken up to shouting and what sounded like gunshots and fighting. Nat suddenly runs into your room and throws your suit, an earpeice and a pistol at you. "Suit up, hydra has dropped a bomb on the roof we need to get everyone out"

You throw your suit on and make sure that earpeice works "hello?" it crackles, but then you hear Tony's voice "y/n! Get out of the building and help as many people as you can along the way!", and that's exactly what you do.

As your running you notice a worker being thrown against the wall by two hydra agents. You suddenly shoot them both in the back of the head and they drop to the floor. The worker croaks out a "thank you" and you give her a nod to say "no problem" as you help her get to the staircase.

You pass three more hydra agents, shooting them all dead as you help as many people as you can along the way. Finally you make it out of the building, seeing the damage to the top. You suddenly hear Steve's voice in your ear "has anyone seen Bucky?!" the question is followed by a load of no's, and you freeze in panick. Steve was shouting your name through th earpeice, but you couldn't answer, you were afraid of what you might say if you tried to talk.

Without a second thought you ran back into the building trying so hard to get to Bucky's room. He's still asleep, he never woke up, you kept trying to reassure yourself, however you knew how low the odds were. After going up so many staircases you thought your legs would give way, you pull together your last bit of strength to open his bedroom door. The room was empty. You start running around the compound screaming out for him "BUCKY?! BUCKY I SWEAR TO GOD GET HERE RIGHT NOW! BUCKY?!". The team hear you through the earpeice and Sam speaks up" guys... I see Bucky" without hesitation you scream back "WHERE?" Sam ignores your question and continues speaking "but I'm not sure it's Bucky anymore"

Your eyes sting with tears, but you wouldn't let them fall, so you shout through the earpiece again "SAM WHERE IS HE?!" you exit the building again and see Sam who points over to where Bucky was waking away with the hydra guards willingly. But Sam was right, it wasn't Bucky, he was long gone. This was the Winter Soldier.

You couldn't have cared less, you still ran at him, determined not to let him get taken back to that Hellhole. You hear Wanda shout through your earpeice, "Y/N WHAT ARE YOU DOING?". You continue to run towards Bucky "BUCKY" You shout at him, but he doesn't even react to his name. As you reach him, he turns around, punching you, sending you flying backwards through the air a if another explosion had just been set off.

Your head crashed off something and suddenly started throbing, your tiredness hit you, and your eyes had nearly closed, when Nat appeared at your side. "y/n! Just keep your eyes open please!" You fought the darkness for Nat's sake, and used all your strength to keep your eyes open.

You heard a helicopter take off, and Bucky was nowhere to be seen. "Stark put something on the helicopter to track it, or just, i don't know do something please" you say, still trying to hold in the tears that were burning your eyes. Your voice came out shaky, and not much louder than a whisper. "Y/n...its gone I'm sorry" you hear Tony say through your earpeice. Your breathinf gets heavy, and you start to hyperventilate, as you feel the tears now silently streaming down your face.

"Y/n you need medical attention asap, can you try and stand up for me?" You take her hand weakly, but your legs wouldn't cooperate, an you fell straight back down to the ground, and your eyes get get heavy. "Y/N!"

When you wake up, your in a hospital bed, natasha at your side. "Y/n your awake!" You sit up in the bed, everywhere hurt still, but not quite as bad. "Nat! How long has it been?!" your mind turned to Bucky, had they saved him? Was he still there with... With hydra?! "It's been two days." Okay that wasnt too bad. "Bucky, have you saved him? Please don't tell me he's still there, he can't still be there! It's been two days they will have brainwashed him again! He won't remember anything Nat, it's not fair he diddnt deserve this! He-" You stopped when you realised you were rambling, and suddenly remembered you were meant to hate him.

Nat gives you a sad smile, "no we haven't managed to locate him yet." You felt a lump in your throat. Not caring about the condition you were in, you stood up "well what the hell are we waiting for? We need to look for him!" Nat sits you back on your bed "we'll find him y/n, don't worry." You didn't mean too, but then you snapped at her "WELL I AM WORRYING! HOW DO YOU KNOW WE'LL FIND HIM?! THEY COULD'VE KILLED HIM AND WE'D KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT!" Silent tears start streaming down your face, and despite the way you had just spoken to her, natasha pulled you in, gave you a hug, and let you cry on her shoulder.

"Y/n..you don't hate him like you make out you do, do you." She said it more like a statement than a question, but you shook your head to answer her anyway. "How do you feel about him?" She diddnt want to pry, but she couldn't help herself. "Nat... I love him"
