CHAPTER FOUR;
billy's a fuck-rag

     "Oh shit!" Tatum yelled. Both Natasha and Tatum threw open their respective car doors, not caring to close them, and ran over to the ambulance where Sidney was sat, sheathed in a blanket, with Dewey, Sheriff Burke, and three paramedics. "Sidney! God, Sid, I'm so sorry we were late. Are you alright?"

Natasha's hand reached over to touch Sidney's shoulder. Breaths heaved out of her chest, grasping for puffs of air. "Sidney, we're so sorry. Are you hurt?"

Sheriff Burke sighed as Dewey spoke, "Tatum, Natasha, you girls can't be here. This is an official crime scene." Dewey held Tatum's arm, moving her backwards away from Sidney.

"It's okay." Sidney said, nodding at Dewey. She swallowed thickly.

"Her dad's out of town, alright." Tatum looked at her brother, "She's staying with us tonight, along with Natasha."

Dewey's brows furrowed. "Does Mom know?"

"Yes, doofus." She rolled her eyes.

Sheriff Burke smiled at Sidney, helping her up. "Let's get you out of here."

"It's gonna be alright, Sid," Natasha said, grabbing Sidney's arm from Sheriff Burke whilst Tatum held her at the other side, wrapping a protective arm around her to sheathe her from the world and judging eyes. "We've got you."

Natasha and Tatum wrapped Sidney in their arms. Her right arm was gripped tightly by Tatum's hands, embracing her. There's an energy in the way Tatum holds her best friend, as if she's overpowered by some primal desire to protect her and keep her swaddled in a quilt of security. Natasha clutched Sidney's left arm in her hands, holding, holding, holding. The grasp formed by Natasha's hands and fingers kept prying eyes and ears away from her friend. They hugged Sidney with gentle arms, allowing her space to breathe in and out, whilst also cushioning her from the rocky and edged mountains created by the kiss of a killer. Their safe and shielding arms wove their souls together, entwining the three girls in an eternal bond; a forever pledge to the others.

"We'll meet you at the station, Sid." Natasha said with a small smile in an attempt to ease the nerves of all three of them. They knew Sidney hated the police station with every fibre of her being. The police station was a never departing train to her, never going forwards or reversing for long enough to be considered a journey. It was a constant for her. A bad memory. The police station was a nightmare that kept her up at all hours of the night, reminding her of what slipped away from her grasp almost a year ago. It reminded her of who slipped out of reach. When her mother died, the police station became a second home to Sidney, who was constantly there as a witness, but never as a grieving child.

Tatum reached over to Sidney to move a strand of hair away from her eyes. She brushed it out of her face, using her fingers to comb it in a tranquil whisper. A waterfall rushed from their souls as their arms dropped from Sidney's, breaking the physical interlaced links between the three of them.
