after abandoning and deceiving the people that she loved most, mia had to leave. she fled, but quickly came back to new york because she needed to carry out her sister's wishes. that's when she met nico di angelo, who'd struck up multiple deals with her — one that she would tell him anything he wanted if he accompanied her to paris to sprinkle sophia's ashes, and the other to accompany him to figure out why their parents had told them about something forbidden that they shouldn't have known. mia agreed, because he understood her. after all, they were the children of the underworld, who could raise the dead and hide in shadows. who were outcasts to demigod society because of their parentage.
nico had brought her to camp jupiter after their paris trip, and after a trip to the underworld. mia had met jason grace before he went missing, and she stayed at the camp occasionally. not a lot of time, because after what she'd done to camp half-blood mia would never stay at a demigod camp enough to settle again, but she stayed there. she met her stepsister, hazel. she was fine for the next few months, living secretly amongst roman demigods and nico in the underworld and resorts that mia's dad had made and fancy hotels in countries that they've never been to.
and then percy jackson, naturally, came to camp jupiter and dragged mia on another quest. without knowing that nearly a year ago, she'd betrayed him.
