Lexie POV:
The weekend has finally come. The weekend of the most disastrous gala ever.
Am I ready? Fuck no.
Am I ready for my mom to stop harassing me? Fuck yes.
Tomorrow is the day of the gala and to say I'm nervous would be an understatement. Not only am I seeing my family— whom I haven't seen in months—Bren is going as my date. It's kind of exciting and cool that he's coming with me. We're driving down to Miami today since that's where my family lives. The gala is going to be in a prestigious ballroom in downtown Miami, near the beach. Only the elite of the elite are invited, business partners and maybe some celebrities thrown in there too. The more the merrier—especially when it comes to money. Because to most there, that's all that matters. For me, it's the opposite.I feel like with the right people, you'd have a great time no matter what.
I drive through Starbucks quickly, getting coffee, bagels, cake pops, and croissant breakfast sandwiches. We have a long drive ahead of us and we need to make it on time because the gala might be tomorrow but my family is having a dinner tonight for a welcome home for me since they missed me oh so much.
If you read that sentence with sarcasm, that's because it was laced with it to the rim.
Pulling up to the basketball house, I park and grab my phone dialing Bren. It's been a couple days since I saw him last since we went shopping and they went to an away game. He may not be here physically. But I'm happy we've been talking nonstop. Texting, FaceTime, it's... nice. Just like how it use to be, maybe even more. They came back very early this morning and I'm here to wake his ass up and go.
I'm grateful he's accompanying me and I want to repay him the only way I know how.
Not just sex and bud.
Food is the way to his heart as it is mine.
He doesn't answer and I huff putting my phone in the cup compartment. The smell of the food in the car is overwhelming and my stomach won't stop gurgling from hunger— it might as well eat itself. Turning off my car with the press of a button, I reluctantly step out and make my way inside the basketball house. Someone left the door unlocked? That's not safe but boys will do that when they are rushing around here all the time.
Roaming my eyes around the house, I see bags and shoes from the guys from recently arriving and it's peacefully quiet. Taking two steps at a time, thank god for my height, I march my way to Bren's room without making a peep. Opening his bedroom door slowly, his room is still dark given the time it is outside and his curtains are closed. His broad muscular back on display, the silhouettes of his tattoos dancing across his skin. Unfortunately, his ass is covered by his comforter and the more I stare at him the more I'm at a loss of words. I can't really believe he's coming with me this weekend.
I shut the door quietly and saunter my way to his bed taking off my slip on black vans and crawl on his bed. You can only hear the fan in the room and his soft snoring. I feel bad waking him up but a girl has to do what a girl has to do. He knows we have to leave early.
I decide on laying down next to him, my head next to the pillow he's currently cradling in his arms. I watch the way his eyes are shut and his long black lashes perfectly lay on his cheekbones, lightly covered in freckles, and his perfectly pouted pink lips apart. I move the dark strands of his hair that's in his face, bringing it behind his ear and over his head and that makes him shuffle his body, an arm pulling my body towards his.
I stifle a squeal and realize he may think I'm a pillow.
He grumbles incoherent words and snuggles into my breasts with his face, scuffing against them and sighing in pure bliss.
