Love in the air and Murder on the news

"Ridhima, what are you doing on the road?", asked a concerned Vansh on spotting Ridhima on the empty streets. It was long past 8. Ever since the news of a serial killer roaming in the city was out, people were afraid to step outside their houses, especially after 8.

"See its so fresh outside. Empty roads and chilling winds. It felt suffocating inside", Ridhima reasoned like a child.

"You will catch a cold", Vansh said as he wrapped his coat around her and then turning her towards himself, he reminded her, "Don't you know a serial killer is out here? What will I do if something happens to you?", hugging her.

"Who will dare to come close to me? I am the girlfriend of the Inspector Vansh Rai Singhania. The bravest police officer who has encountered uncountable criminals, the protector of the city. Even if I get a scratch, my hero will set the city on fire", she said with pride, wrapping her arms around him.

"Enough of your buttering", he said, talking her inside hurriedly, not leaving her hand even for a moment.

As the couple sat on the table, Ridhima whispered, "Aren't you afraid to enter a girl's house at night?"

Vansh chuckled seeing her antics and playful eyes. His girl never failed to relieve his stress.

"I thought you will be upset because I wasn't here in the afternoon. Your parents must be disappointed with me", he sighed.

"Disappointed with what? That you were not here when the priest was choosing our wedding date. And instead you had to rush to the crime scene", she said, reassuring him that nobody was angry.

"I should have kept my personal and professional life apart", he apologised again.

"I fell in love with you because of your dedication to your work. I know you are a policeman and you have no fixed work time. There can be an emergency any time", she said and kissed his forehead.

"That serial killer has killed 9 people. And I have got no trace of him yet. God knows who his next target is", he groaned as worry took over him steadily.

"Don't worry. There is no perfect crime. You will get a clue soon", Ridhima said in an attempt to cheer him up.

Down the lane, another person stood in the dark, staring at the mad-in-love couple. His bloodshot eyes fuming with rage seeing the couple move closer.
