Ridhima stood in front of the gate of the library. The sun had been set and the moon was yet to come. She would have enjoyed the cold winds in the greenery if it had been earlier. But now the situation is different.
Kabir stood just few foot away from Ridhima. Once in a while he would hide in the crowd or take shelter somewhere else to prevent being spotted. It had an advantage to him that Ridhima did not look back much, she seemed more absorbed in clicking pictures and trying street food.
Little did he know that Vansh had given her a thorough training already and his love had further blinded him to the minor mistakes she could make. He was having a hard time controlling his laughter on seeing how she struggled to bargain.
Spotting a handicrafts shop, Ridhima ran to it. She had read in a book that lovers are joined with a red string that does not break even after death. A handicraft shop is the best place to search for red string to fit for its criteria- to last for eternity. Just like her and Vansh's eternal love.
Vansh had arrived in the market with his forces already. His eyes fell on Ridhima and he tried to inform her immediately but she was so busy in talking with the shop keeper that she had forgotten to check on her phone. Police men in civil dress had spread all over the area.
======
"Withering heights page 132"--- Ridhima is shocked when the man beside her at the store suddenly utters those words. She had been reading that book and asked Vansh to remember where she had left when she would start again. It meant her Vansh had arrived.
Her hands froze, her fingers stuck in the basket of bracelets.
"Maam did you get the one you like?"--- The shopkeeper's voice broke her trance.
"Can I get some handwoven scarfs?", the other man asked. "I need them for my daughter", he continued.
"They are kept at the backside of the stall. Just wait for sometime", the old lady smiled and hurriedly left to get few samples.
Ridhima continued looking at the bracelets like before, while that man pretended to look into the other things.
"You know what to do right?" he asked, his voice conveying his impatience on seeing her still engaged in the bracelets.
"Where is Vansh?", she questioned instead, her tone serious and alarming.
"9 o' clock", he whispered and left before Ridhima could say more. The policeman had actually felt a sharp glare and recognized it to be the killer so he decided to leave before stirring any more doubt.
Ridhima tries to look to her left without changing her position but fails. The old lady too returns and starts cribbing about how a customer left without buying.
Ridhima's pacing heart gave in, she needed to see Vansh once before getting to action, and she ended up shouting at the shopkeeper, "Will you stop the drama? Crying from that time. My head is paining by your voice. One customer went right, now even I will go. Cry for 2."
As she turned to leave, her eyes went to her left, her Vansh was there. She saw him- dressed in casuals. It was tough to recognize him with the makeover but she could never fail to find him.
Giving out no previous signal or warning, she ran in Kabir's direction as fast as she could. An unexpected Kabir was initially confused and when his feet came to help, it was of no use. Ridhima had reached him and managed to stop him- holding his hand in the process. Her touch consumed him, he was unable to make out whether it was her innocence or a successful trap. The warmth he had desired for throughout his life, the feeling of being close to someone he loves was worth being jailed or more probably hanged. He kept standing there, his eyes full of love for her, his pounding heart paced down as he felt calmness flowing in his vessels finally, a smile came to his face.
Ridhima knew that smile. He was indeed the killer and now her suspicions were finally confirmed. However the smile still confused her. His eyes had different emotions whenever she looked into them, there were raw emotions. Had she not seen him committing a murder, she might have pitied him.
