TW- links to alcohol leading to abuse
Xavier's pov
Me, Y/n, Enid, Aj and a few other friends were all on Y/n and Enid's balcony, mainly to smoke and drink.
Every so often we have get togethers like this, but this time we had just finished exams and wanted to celebrate.
We're all sat across the balcony, Y/n next to me holding my hand, and the others spread around. We were all drinking except for Y/n as she's not really much of a drinker. She told me about why a few weeks ago, and said that the alcohol sometimes makes her remember when her dad would do things to her when he would drink all the time. I believe her words were something along the lines of 'I have no problem with you drinking at all, I promise. Just sometimes I need a little reassurance when people are drinking you know?'. Ever since then I've stuck to 1 or 2 beers, to avoid ever being to drunk to comfort her. Just 1 or 2 doesn't affect me at all, hence why I don't drink any more than that.
I could tell Y/n was kinda out if it. She was staring off into space, biting her bottom lip hard enough for it to bleed. I was rubbing her hand with my thumb, back and forth, which is something I do all the time because I know about the comfort it provides her.
'Hey, you okay baby?' I whisper, no one else heard me as they were all talking louder than us.
'Mhm' she replies, and by that I know that she is vert much not okay.
'I don't like that answer my love. What's going on in that pretty little head of yours hm?' I ask her again.
'Just, the smell you know. It's a bit much. Being able to smell all the drinks' she finally tells me whats wrong, and my heart breaks for her.
'Guys, we're just heading inside for a sec to warm up, we'll be out in a minute' I say guiding Y/n's hand for her to stand up.
We walk inside and I shut the window, pulling the blinds closed so that we couldn't be seen.
'Look at me for a sec y/n...I will never, ever let anything or anyone hurt you. If I thought in anyway you were unsafe, I'd remove you from a situation. I love you so much Y/n. All that stuff that happened to you, is never ever going to happen again okay? I love you so much Y/n. You're safe with me'. She doesn't say anything at first, and instead just clings on to me.
I rub her head for a while, kissing her forehead.
'I love you Xavier. Thank you for always keeping me safe' she says, clinging on to me even tighter now.
'Always baby' I say.
