Si de noche lloras por el sol
No verás las estrellas.
-Rabindranath Tagore
(*If at night you cry for the sun,
you will not see the stars.)Will you hold my gaze even when I let yours go?
I won't pretend there won't be days when my smile loses
The sun and I have nothing left to shine but a wan,
Feeble ray that barely qualifies as human warmth.
Hearts come in fragments and I loathe puzzle pieces, but
If your fingers sort the shards with mine, perhaps we can
Fit together a new cordate sky that lets streams of light
Spill through cracks to frame all our voids with stars.
