Everything changed. The ground felt like a bed, and no one was under you anymore. Regrettably.

How had you fallen asleep after that kiss? Maybe...Maybe it didn't actually happening. You were tripping (balls bitch boy) back there.

But it seemed so real. You wanted it to be real. You hoped it was real.

A knock comes on the door and you stammer before calling "Come in?"

Jareth walks in. His sleeves were rolled up and he was more business casual. You did a double take.

He came over to the chair that was by your side, and sat down. You felt guilty immediately.

"I didn't listen, and I should've. I'm sorry."

Jareth didn't get mad like you thought he would. "I should have took you with me instead of left you with Tiq. She's already given me her confession. She thought it would be hilarious to send you down there. She's being dealt with later. How are you feeling?"

He raises his hand to your forehead. "You don't seem feverish at least. No risk of infection."

"Are you a doctor?" You ask.

"I didn't have a doctor growing up. I had to learn all of this myself."

"But you're a King...how could you not have that?"

Jareth was quiet for a moment.

"Simply put. My father."

"What did he do?"

"That's a story for another time. I prepared a bath for you, and some old clothes that could fit you. Have you used a claw foot bath tub before?...Doesn't matter, the water isn't scalding hot anymore, so you can get in whenever it's to your liking. I'll be back in an hour or so." Jareth says.

And so you go over into the bathroom and wash up.

Jareth lounged on his chair and tapped his leg with his staff.

"You look sad." Crog said setting down a glass of water. Jareth glared at Crog. "I'm not sad, or going to cry."

Crog then took the glass and then drunk the water. "Tasty."

Jareth sighs. What would his mother have done? What if he approached this like his father did? What if he could never make you happy?

He didn't know.

Would you even like him back?

He sits up. He would ask you. Today.

He'd take you to the garden and then ask you, and he'll have his answer.

"Crog, I'm dressing up."

"Back to your usual self then? Good. I thought I'd have to sing a tune and shake my rump or something." Crog said.

Jareth left without acknowledging his sentence.

"Or maybe I could have farted on the chicken and it would run around gagging." Crog looks over to the innocent chicken.

"at least I would enjoy it. Here chicky chicky...."

You looked around the room and looked at the little trinkets and decoration.

The door opens and you spin around to see Jareth.

"Y/n." Jareth says bowing his head slightly.

"I have something I want to speak to you about." Jareth says.

You cross your arms waiting for him to speak. Inwardly you were panicking, as you always did when someone said they needed to speak.

"I know how much you are curious of everything in the Kingdom, and that you would like to know about everything. But those things take time, and take many hours in order to actually talk about...Since the day I saw you I knew there was something special about you. My book chose you, not to be an ordinary runner...but a King."

He pauses and watches your reaction. You guffawed and cleared your throat. "King?" (Shit) That was too high pitched. "Uhm. King?" You say fixing your slight voice crack. You felt like you were 12 again. You try not to think about that age.

"Yes. Ruling by my side, if you'll have me. You'll be in charge over all the creatures of the land, sit by my side, and only bow down to me. But I, in turn, will bow down to you. You won't have to work at a construction site anymore, dealing with unmanageable deranged humans, and have to deal with politics. You'd stay here forever living in a fantasy."

"This is...very sudden." You say processing everything. Living in a castle with a really hot man and not having to do taxes seemed too good to be true.

"What's the catch?" You ask.

"You'll marry me." Jareth said.

You weren't a big fan of commitment. You messed up a lot, and you didn't want to mess up here. What if he spends more time with you and he finds you're not all that he thought you were.

"I...I need some time to think about it."

Jareth's face dims. "So you don't want too? You'd rather waste the rest of your life stuck going from job to job, dreaming of everything that could have been? You'd rather kill your soul staying on Earth?"

"That's not what I'm saying Jareth. I said I need some time to think about it." You say sharply.

"You decide now or you never come back." Jareth says hotly.

"So it's either I marry you or I'll get kicked out? You know what? I think I'll leave. If this is how you are going to be acting I think I dodged a bullet here." You said and turned around.

"Now where's the exit?"

"You truly want to leave?" Jareth asks.

You nod.

"Then go ahead and live your boring life. I don't need you anyway!" Jareth says.

And the scenery changes.

~*~

The colors in the Labyrinth begin to dim. The cracks in the walls resume falling apart. Tiq and Crog looked at the slammed closed door.

"This is bad." Crog says removing the pan hat and looking down mournfully.

Tiq looked to Crog "This really might be the end of the Labyrinth. All because of Jareth. His tapestry was right. We're doomed."

Crog puts his pan hat back on and glowers at the door.

"Not if Crog has anyt'ing to say about it! Which he does!"

You woke up to your alarm and groaned, slapping the clock trying to get it to shut up. You felt like you had a hole in your heart. Nothing felt right anymore.

You wished you had just given the book back and just left everything well enough alone. Maybe you wouldn't have ever known the taste of his lips and had your gay heart yearn for someone who didn't even want to have to deal with you.

None of it was worth it.

You shouldn't have expected any better from him really. He was going to make you solve his Labyrinth anyways for cleaning up a book.

It was better if you forgot the Labyrinth. Who shows someone the world and then takes it away?

You were going to say yes (Damn it!).

But it's better you found out now that he didn't really care for you. You weren't meant to play some royal role.

You sigh and then get up to get ready for work.

...

Your life isn't boring. It's just not where you want it to be.

You lean against the doorway and hang your head. You're going to call in sick today. You can't do this. Not right now.

And so you did.
