I wake up to knocking on the door.
Two guards walk in, escorting me to a training room.
Axel is there.
He sits, talking and laughing with some boys. They obviously aren't training. Some boys are of course but they look bored and they do it halfheartedly.
I go towards Axel.
He looks disappointed to see me.
He tried to warn me of them. I see that now.
"Guys, this is that girl we were talking about earlier."
"My name is Bethany. What in the world is going on?" I ask still playing the part.
Axel stares me down. His gaze seems to say that it isn't safe here either.
"We heard you kidnapped him." A boy jokes.
"For the last time, I didn't! What is up with you people? I was just concerned about a guy on the street beat up and it turns out to be this humongous thing! I don't want to be here."
"This is Henry, He's kind of in charge of this whole thing, he's also my best friend. I'm sorry you got mixed up with this Bethany."
"Who are you kidding? Axel is the top dog, the top alpha, the top" He cut off when he saw the expression on Axel's face.
Ax looks pained as if I'm another person he caused the death of.
"I'm Haris." Says a young boy. He shakes my hand. His blue eyes sparkle.
"Bethany."
Axel stared at me asking if I was okay.
I gave him a nod that meant No, but I will be fine.
"So, by the way, guys, I should have probably told you that I ran away, She was accused of kidnapping me, but she actually didn't."
"Ax, how were you able to pull that off? Nobody has ever been able to run away."
"Let's just say I'm smarter than Grimes."
"No way." One of the boys protested.
"What's your name?" I ask not willing to call them by one of the boys.
"Corin" He nods his head at Axel to urge him to keep going.
"They don't call me the best for nothing."
"Why is she here if she didn't do it?"
"I was in the wrong place at the wrong time." She replied angrily.
"You know, they're never going to believe that." Corin somberly stated. The silence reigned. They all knew that she wasn't what she said she was. That meant that MBK Corps knew it as well.
"Been to the white room yet?" Corin broke the silence hastily.
"No, what's the white room?"
They all stared at each other inviting one another to tell.
"It's a simulation. The worst things all rolled into one. Fear, death of your loved ones, your past, pain, and Just sitting in the white room."
"See those boys over there?"
I looked, and there were several boys sitting with a look of terror on their faces. Their eyes were empty and they were unmoving.
"They went mad from being in the white room."
Shivering she turned away from them.
"I assure you, I won't go mad."
"Sure, sure" Another of the boys rebuked. His name was Ethan. Ethan had always been a dark boy, yet he was not strong in any weapon.
Someone prodded her in the back.
"Time to go."
They were teenagers but unlike the others, they had a manner of importance, and their clothes weren't white either.
They grasped my arms roughly
"Good luck," Axel said darkly.
"You know I won't."
As we walked the teens looked me over.
"It's been a long time hasn't it?" The one with the black hair on the right remarks.
"Pardon him, but we haven't seen any girls in two years." the speaker was handsome well built with brown hair. He looked nice too.
I didn't speak aware that any input could worsen the situation.
We go in silence.
"I'm sorry we're bringing you to the worst place ever. I would have preferred to bring you out for ice cream or something. Not that I would have been able to pay..." The black-haired boy looked down as if ashamed of something in his past.
"It's not your fault Gabe. It's none of our faults."
I have no clue what they are talking about, but if they said it wasn't their fault, I guess I could believe that.
"We're reaching the white room, we better be quiet, they have cameras with voice recognition, and they'll send us to the white room if they find we've been talking. "
The silence reigns once again and I am left to wonder what awaits me.
