Chapter 13

Mr. Vellen walked into the simulation room.
It was very interesting. How, with one hookup, they could control the very world of what people were seeing.
"Made any progress?" He asked the head scientist Dr. Blinten
"Axel and William are behaving normally sir."
"You know that's not what I mean."
"It's best if you come in and see."
They walked down the row and came to the last three.
The girl was breathing rather fast, and sweat was perspiring on her forehead.
"Did you show her?"
The doctor nodded slowly.
"She knows the horrors of real pain."
"To what extent?"
"She doesn't know that from the moment she walked in here she was hooked up. That everything here is a simulation. ."
"Make sure Axel doesn't tell the boy anything. I don't want him ruining everything."
"Don't worry sir, He knows what will happen if he does."
"Yes, he will see their pain," Mr. Vellen smiled. "Just in case, wake him. I want to remind him."
"Yes sir."
The Doctor stepped up and pushed a series of buttons.
Axel's body jerked. And his eyes opened.
The restraints held him back from doing anything bad.
"What." He growled.
"You know you love seeing me for real." I smile.
"Only because in real life you are able to be touched." He replies.
I put my face close to his.
"You won't be able to." I laugh at his anger and struggle.
"You are most perplexing. Of all people to be aware, I would have thought of someone else. You are the only one. And we are determined to figure out why."
I place my hand on his arm.
"Release him."
The restraints retract. He tries to struggle against the two arms holding him captive. And if I were any lesser of a man I would slip. But I am much stronger than him.
I force him to walk to the place the girl is.
She is sweating, one of the effects of the simulation.
"Give her fears." I order the Doctor.
"Yes sir,"
"No." Axel says, struggling to get free. He knows what's coming.
I whisper into his ear
"You or her will tell,"
He flinches.
"And when you do, I'll make sure whoever dares go up against us is utterly destroyed into ashes. Then, only then, will you take a break. After that we'll test you in our other facility till no one is able to resist the simulations. Doesn't that sound great?"
He pales at the mention of tests. After all, it was the thing that made him replace his brother.
"Starting in three, two, one. Test running."
"NO!"
Yes, they would have complete control.
