I woke up in front of the project assigner.
"Want to tell us what that was about?" He asks.
"I was just going about my business and I got caught by the police."
"That's obvious. What I'm wondering is what you said to them. And what a girl your age was doing consorting with the police." He stared at me.He sighed.
"I can make this easy. Tell what her part is in this and we'll put her in the white room then let her leave. Or we can keep her here and torture her and keep her as one of you pathetic boys."
I knew it meant white room every way.
"No, How about you leave her alone and don't put her in the white room and I'll tell you." I challenge him with my eyes.
"You know I can't do that. She would tell them about all of it."
"You know you could just knock her out again, dispose of the girl, and she can be clueless as to who you are and where I went." It makes sense. I know it does.
"Fine, I lied to you. We're going to keep the girl even if you tell us. But, let me tell you that we are going to hear everything about the girl through you or her. So, It's your choice."
I decide it's not worth it to tell them. Bethany would hate me if I told them. I also knew that Bethany was strong. She wouldn't tell them a thing.
"No, I won't tell you anything."
"Very well then. Send him back to his room."
AGENT WELL'S POV
I blissfully sail into darkness...
When I wake up I am in a white room. No windows. Everything is white. The blankets, the ceiling, even the floor.
No splashes of color even.
Surprisingly I am also wearing white.
I know that this room is meant for discomfort. So, I think, to get rid of the white.
So I should probably act in the role of an innocent civilian. At least until they find out that I was the one who made him disappear.
So I scream to anyone who is listening.
"Let me out! I'm telling the police if you don't let me out! My parents will be worried about me! Just wait!"
Then I act scared. But, that part is true. Fear creeps up on me like a thief in the night.
Two people walk in. They are dressed in all black and have red sashes around their shoulders. On their sides are weapons I've never seen before.
"Thank goodness. Let me talk to your leader!" I shout. They're silent but each grabs one arm firmly. I'm not going anywhere. They lead me down dull gray halls.
"Let me go!"
They ignored me.
"My father is very important! He'll sue you! Whoever you are." Again they kept walking.
Finally, they open a door.
There is a man. He looks like he is in charge. He studies me with interest.
Two more guards stand in the room dressed in dark blue with black sashes. (Haven't they ever heard that black does not match blue?)
"Sit."
It is a simple command. I sit.
"Why am I here?" I demand.
"What's your name?" He asks, looking down at a notebook and ignoring my question.
"First, why am I here? My parents will..."
He interrupts me.
"Your parents won't do anything. You are here because you were around Axel not once but twice."
"Who's Axel?" I ask playing the part.
"The boy you were trying to free. Why were you helping him?"
"Because I'm a nice person!"
"I'm sure you are. But, girl, we also found you in our cameras in New York right around the time he went missing."
"I was on a trip. My grandparents live there. Plus I've never even seen that boy till today. Or whenever you kidnapped him."
"You're lying."
How could he have any proof?
I took out the cameras at the time.
"Look, the police are probably coming for me. My parents are worried sick."
"Tell me your name." He sighed.
"No!" I say.
"Very well."
He motions for his guards.
One raises a weapon. I'm not very familiar with it but, I suspected it electrocuted people.
"What's that?" I ask.
"Just answer my questions and you won't know."
"Stop, my name is Bethany Wilder."
I'm not actually scared of course but my cover needs to keep up.
Bethany Wilder is a real person that Mr.Gibbs made up. I stage as that exact person. He said that if they look they will see parents. Also, their grandparents lived in New York. I worked it out with the family so that I could be "their" daughter. I made Instagram posts, I made sure a school knew my name, and I set up my pictures and everything. My cover is tight. There's no way they'll be able to find out who I actually am.
"Alright, we'll see about that. Why were you following Axel?"
"I wasn't. I wanted a drink."
What would you be doing all the way in Arizona if you live in Ohio? He asks.
I blushed. Guessing my best bet was to pretend I had a boyfriend in Arizona.
"Visiting my boyfriend." He raised his eyebrows.
"Your parents know about it?"
"Yes... No. I did it behind their backs."
"What's his name?" He asks, looking down at the notebook again, furiously writing.
I chose the name of a guy who always went to that bar. I spent a lot of time in Arizona and I knew everyone. I also actually liked this guy.
"William Phillips. But if you touch him, I will..."
"Do what?" The guy mocks me.
"Please,"
I pleaded with him. This is not faking. I don't need to get him mixed up in my life.
"Take her back to her room." Not that room again,
How am I supposed to get out of this?
