Bethany is a strange girl.
But, once I started dating her, I found out why she was so strange.
She said I couldn't tell anyone. She made me promise I wouldn't tell even if I died for it.
If it was anyone else I would have said no.
But, I promised.
I work at a bar, I remember meeting Bethany for the first time. She said she wanted water. I said
"A water? When you could have all the kinds of sodas and milkshakes you wanted."
She laughed at that.
"I thought bars only had wine,"
"No, we serve food and drinks as well. I can serve the special if you want, a mix I made on my own."
"Sure," She said and laughed.
I gave it to her.
"How much?" She asked.
"Nothing,"
"Really?" She asked skeptically.
"No, but I'll pay for you."
She blushed.
We met regularly over the years.
At least until she got captured by whoever those guys were.
I sigh, washing my hands and getting ready to leave.
"Hey, Gary! Can I leave now?" I yell.
"Sure thing, grab a pop as you leave," I smile at his friendliness.
I leave, grabbing my bag.
Catching a glimpse of someone following me, I walk faster.
Then two guys approach me from ahead.
"Look, I don't want a fight," I say, leaving my backpack on the ground, raising my hands, and backing away.
"We don't want money."
Great, I knew they weren't common thieves. I'm guessing this has something to do with Bethany.
"Don't run or we'll shoot,"
I raise my hands again and they come up to me, thrusting me to my knees and handcuffing me.
Then, they order me to take a pill, and I eat it.
I feel the effects quickly as my mind goes blank.
When I wake up, I'm in a vast building.
Everything is white.
Guards guide me through the hall to a room.
A man sits inside, waiting for me.
"William Phillips." He says in a low, important voice.
"Call me Will." Only my parents called me William. This man definitely did not have permission.
"Will, you might be asking why you are here. You don't seem to be freaking out though."
"No, sir, I'm hoping this is a misunderstanding, or that the police will come. I have strong faith in not panicking."
The man raises his eyebrows as if he is amused.
"Your girlfriend seems to be the opposite way,"
My head comes up in surprise.
"You have Bethany?" I ask in a strained voice. Now, I know this has to do with her being an agent.
