Violet Ellie Crain was laying in her bed, wide awake but staring at the ceiling when her alarm went off. She let out an annoyed groan and reached for her phone, shutting the alarm off before climbing out of bed. She'd been awake for hours, dreading the day ahead of her. She was meeting up with her ex boyfriend to give him back his stuff from their apartment. She wasn't sure how it was going to go, she had called him while he was away for work and told him it was over. She didn't give him a choice, she was scared that he wasn't going to react well.
Violet laid in bed all day, reading and listening to music quietly, hoping to distract her busy mind until her alarm went off that she had to get ready.
She hopped up and took a long hot shower. Violet was 5'0 and thin, at only 124 pounds, but with a small stomach littered with stretch marks. She had faded auburn hair that hung down to her butt and a few tattoos throughout her body. Her thighs had old scars from years of self harm. Both nostrils were pierced with small gold hoops. She had pouty lips and a perfect smile, but she hated the way she looked. The old faint lines on the inside of her thighs were constant reminders of bad decisions and a hard life in her teens. The stretch marks across her stomach and hips made her wish she had a body like the girls in magazines.
Violet quickly got dressed in a simple black scoop neck bodysuit with a floral black skirt, her olive green coat and a simple pair of low top converses before loading the few boxes in the car and heading towards the café they frequented across town. She ordered herself an iced chai latte with soy milk while she waited for him.
When he walked in he looked annoyed to see her. He was muscular but slender and not very tall with short light brown hair, a slightly round face and dark brown eyes. "You're late." She pointed out.
"And here we go again." He said with a huff as he sat down across from her.
"Can we not? You're the one that asked me to come here." Violet said with a sigh.
"Fine. I want us to be together again." He blurted out, reaching for her hand that was laying on the table but she quickly pulled it back.
"No, I can't keep dealing with your lies." Violet said sternly.
"Violet, I'm not hiding anything. Why do you always think that?" He spat angrily.
"I know you are, Taylor. You're always disappearing, you're always coming home late or drunk. If it's not another girl what is it?" Violet asked.
"I'm not hiding anything, it's so annoying that you can't just trust me. I've given you 10 years of my life!" Taylor practically yelled, most of the café was staring.
"You've never given me a reason to trust you. We're done, I'm sorry." Violet said confidently as she got up to leave, but Taylor grabbed firmly onto her wrist, she could already feel she would be bruised tomorrow with how firm his grip was.
"We're done when I say we're done." He demanded.
"Let go!" Violet said loudly, gaining the attention of the rest of the café. Surprisingly he let go and Violet darted out of the café.
She knew he would call the police if she left in the car, it was in his name. So she walked. But she could feel Taylor was behind her, following her every step. She crossed the street several different times to get away from him, she saw him out of the corner of her eye following every move. Her brisk walk turned into almost a run. This went on for several miles before she decided to take a chance. She saw a group of intimidating looking men and rushed over to them. "Help me.." She pleaded quietly.
"Are you okay?" One of the men asked. He was medium height and looked to be in his 40s. Violet looked back and saw Taylor staring, he looked pissed. She picked the largest of the four and moved to stand behind him, her small hands holding onto his biceps to keep herself behind him. "He's following me." She said.
