It was 9 in the morning, and here I was, dressed in my new band outfit. It was snugger than the one a few years ago, and the mask was slightly different. The only sound curving through the halls were the clacking of my heavy boots. The dominant emotion resting at my surface was a deep frustration, which was driving me insane. One time I passed a Sister of Sin, and I barely stopped myself from lashing out at her. That was just because of the way she was breathing.

Drawing closer to the band room, a heat wave washed over me. I tugged at my collar, stretching my neck to the side. Arriving at the door, I adjusted my mask evenly, twisting the doorknob. The first thing I saw was Cardinal Copia's back, his dark hair swept behind him. Before him were all the ghouls, one of them looking past the Cardinal to wave at me. I didn't pay any mind to it, instead watching as Copia turned around to meet my steady gaze.

His face lit up brightly as he walked towards me. "Ah, Fernis, welcome!" He stretched out his arms, ready to embrace the familiar ghoul. Instead, I pushed his arms aside, leaving him standing there as I walked past him.

I never understood his warm gestures that he so willingly handed out. After talking with him only once, and it was practically Secondo doing the talking instead of me, he treated me like a lifelong friend. I shuttered at the thought of him even getting remotely close to touching me. He was way too comfortable. Perhaps he thought we were close friends through Terzo. They always used to hang around each other, and often times I was roped into being around them.

Secondo had pushed me into keeping Terzo company, mainly because he didn't want to spend what Terzo called 'quality time' with his brother. Secondo's version of quality time was being alone in the darkest corner of his room. After learning about his party habits a few years ago, I never discovered why he had those moments of wanting to be in the quiet. However, I never questioned it.

Upon me turning him down, he cleared his throat awkwardly, spinning back around to track my movements. "Please tell me they at least know how to play." I spoke outwardly, ignoring the presence of the other ghouls.

"Well, Sodo and Aether know-" he started, only to get cut off.

"Well of course they know. I'm talking about your new ghouls." I scoffed, crouching down where a guitar lay propped against the wall. I studied it intensely, my back still to the others. I slipped off my gloves, running my fingers over the instrument. Dust clung onto my fingers, and I instantly shook it off. "I'll need that cleaned." I put in, standing back up and turning around.

"It'll be as good as new by tomorrow. And from what they told me, ghouls in hell have actually started to be taught instruments. It's crazy, right? You won't have to teach them everything like Terzo's ghouls." Though I was relieved, his enthusiasm was sickening.

I nodded slowly, turning on my heel towards the ghouls. They were all sitting on the steps, looking between me and Copia with interest.

My eyes washed over each of them, only hesitating on Sodo and a ghoul sitting next to him. I walked silently across the room, where a random fruit bowl was. I took an apple, tossing it to Sodo, who fumbled slightly before securing it in his grip. "Eat something, you're deathly skinny." I watched as his face instantly flushed with anger. I didn't care, looking over to the other ghoul next to him.

"Your name?" I questioned, attracting his attention. He glanced over to me, meeting my gaze warily.

"Rain." He answered. I nodded, turning back towards the basket and grabbing another apple. I threw it at the water ghoul before turning towards Copia. He wasn't as bad as Sodo, but I still had to acknowledge his bony figure.

"Does he, like, ever eat?" I beckoned towards Sodo. Part of me was actually concerned. He really stood out compared to the others, his body frail and skinny. Of course, I had been to some of Terzo's concerts, where you could practically forget about the small stature, but still.
