Fenris' POV:

I could faintly pick up on the distant sound of footsteps coming closer, but I still kept my eyes closed. I wasn't willing to move, my body warm and drowsy. I could still feel Swiss next to me, my head leaning against him comfortably. The more I started to wake up, I was able to note that he himself was awake. He was making circles on my arm with his thumb, the movement never faltering.

It wasn't until the footsteps, which I decided were a pair, stopped right next to us that I started to pay attention. I think the two figures had sat down, and now it was silent. I sighed as I brought my hands up, rubbing my palms roughly against my eyelids. Despite my reluctance, I ended up opening my eyes, quickly blinking the sleep away. I was aware of the eyes on me, and when I looked to the chairs, I wasn't expecting Rain and Sunshine to be sitting there.

Rain had his chin tilted downwards, seeming to be looking at anything but my eyes. Really, he was just intently staring at Swiss as if they were in a conversation. On the other hand, Sunshine's eyes were flicking back and forth from me and Swiss. One time she looked at Rain for a moment, like he had grabbed her attention somehow. She had one of those big, bright grins like Swiss did.

After a few more seconds of watching them silently communicate through their summoning bond, I was fed up with just watching it, "Alright, you can speak like normal now. I'm not sleeping beauty anymore." Swiss chuckled next to me, and I was practically able to feel the vibration coming from his chest. I had to push in order to sit up, Swiss' hand resting on my back. Without even looking, I could feel Rain and Sunshine's eyes fixed onto me. It was slightly unnerving, causing me to tense up as I sat against the bare wall.

"How are you holding up?" Rain's voice sounded just as uncertain as I felt. When I looked toward him, he met my eyes momentarily before averting his gaze downwards. For some reason, it took me a while to register that their masks were off. They wore their glamour, but I noticed that there were still some uncovered ghoul features. I couldn't quite pinpoint why, but this fact eased me just slightly. Maybe it was because I didn't have to stare into that void of a mask we all had to wear. When a ghoul wore it, you could only see their eyes in certain lighting. Every other time, you never knew where their eyes lay or the emotion swirling around them.

After a few moments of pretty uncomfortable silence, I managed a simple, "fine." Okay, I probably could've mustered more of an answer, but keep in mind that I didn't like these two.

I heard Swiss inhale deeply next to me, exchanging a short glance with Sunshine and Rain. "The nurses say that she recovered as expected, and she'll be released this morning." The elaboration seemed to be a reliable answer, the duo's faces rushing with relief. That's what didn't make sense to me. Why would they be here? It looked to me as if they hated my guts most of the time, yet here they were. Well, you think everyone hates you, so that's not saying much.

I wish the voice in my head wouldn't be so painfully outspoken. I instantly took note of it when Swiss moved his hand away from me. I felt almost weightless where his hand had been, but at the same time I could also feel my skin crawling. An unfamiliar yearning for physical touch washed over me, making me somewhat confused. I wanted him to keep running circles along my skin, to keep some sort of contact with me. I couldn't remember the last time I had yearned for someone's touch.

"That's great!" Sunshine's voice broke through, the sound putting me on alert. I didn't remember being so sensitive to sound, but it could've been due to the previous silence of the room. "We were scared to death when we heard. Me and Rain came running here the moment we were allowed." She took a glance to the water ghoul, who quickly nodded in confirmation. I could hear the slightest accent in Sunshine's voice. Country, maybe? It was obvious that when she spoke, Rain's attention instantly sparked. It wasn't like a siren for him as it was for me, but instead her voice seemed to be a comfort. The change in him happened quick, his shy demeanor turning into something more energetic.
