"Well she only went missing 2 weeks ago right? So she could still be alive?" I asked Tony as I looked over some files from our new case.

"Yes that's what I'm saying." He rolled his eyes. "The first girl was missing for  6 weeks before she was actually killed. And the second was almost 5 weeks. And then we have our current missing girl, who could still be alive somewhere."

We had just gotten this case maybe 30 minutes ago. Gibbs just handed it to us and walked away; which, is not uncommon. But he really didn't even say anything, and we haven't seem him since.

"Alright, now what?" I ask Tony as I spread out each of the girls files on my desk.

Right as Tony was about to say something, Gibbs walked into the bullpen. "Go home," He told us.

"What? No Gibbs, this case is important," I tried to reason. I couldn't deny it would be nice to finally go and see my boyfriend for the first time in months.

"Yes, and so are all of our cases. Go home, the case will still be here in the morning." He said as he grabbed his jacket.

It was fairly late, if we hadn't been given that case, we would've already been on our way home.

"Alright boss, whatever you say." I sighed and also grabbed my jacket. It was mid January and the weather outside was absolutely awful. It had been below freezing for the past couple of weeks.

..........

My car door had frozen shut, I pulled on it for a while. I tried to use my hands to warm up the ice around the door handle, it didn't work at all. I tried one last tug, it was no use, I hated my car, and I hated winter.

It was cold and I didn't feel like staying outside so I turned around and sighed, I planned to just go back inside and figure it out from there, maybe someone could just give me a ride.

I didn't get far, I ran into Gibbs in the middle of the parking lot, he was headed to his truck.

"I thought I said go home?" He stopped and said.

I laughed a bit, "yeah, I know, I would love to, but my stupid door handle is completely iced over," I explained.

"Oh well, let me show you a trick," He said as he started walking towards my car.

I followed close behind him with my hands deep in my pockets trying to stay warm.

He took his knife out and jabbed it into the ice, "Uh-" I flinched, "Please don't scratch my car," I blurted out. Even though I absolutely despised the car, it was a gift from my boyfriend, so it meant a lot to me.

Gibbs stepped back from the car as he easily opened the door, "No scratches," he said.

I smiled and got in my car, "Thanks Gibbs,"

He smiled back, "Not a problem," I noticed his smile quickly faded and just before he walked away he said, "Hey, Jill, how is Adam doing?"

"Uh, good? Why?" I cautiously replied. That was so random, what does Adam have to do with anything? I thought.

"No reason, have a good night, be safe," He said and quickly walked away, leaving me very confused.

I brushed off what he said and started my car. My windshield was completely iced over, I knew I would have to wait for it to warm up.

I took my phone out to text my boyfriend while I waited.

Me: Hey Adam, I might be a little late tonight, I'm on my way in just a few minutes

He responded almost immediately.

Adam: Oh don't worry babe, I might be a little late too, first day back at the office was a bit rough.

Me: Oh okay, well I'll meet you at your new house then?

Adam: Sure

The ice on my vehicle was mostly gone now. I pulled out of the NCIS parking lot and went over to Adam's place.

I pulled into Adam's driveway, his car wasn't there yet but that was fine, I'd just go in and wait for him.

It was so cold outside, I didn't take much time to make my way over to the door. I quickly unlocked it and slipped inside. I hung my jacket up on a hook next to the door and took my boots off and put them on the shoe rack.

I went into Adam's kitchen to see what he had for food, I thought it would be nice to make us a nice dinner.

I decided to just make something simple, I quickly threw some macaroni and cheese together for the both of us.

Even after dinner was done, Adam still hadn't gotten home. I began to worry a little bit, but I decided to wait a little longer. I put a cover over the food so that it would stay warm.

I was about to lay down on the couch when my phone started ringing. I looked at the caller ID to see Tony's name.

"yes?" I answered.

"I'm sending you a location, we've got another dead girl, meet me there," I heard Tony sigh over the phone.

"Alright, I'm on my way," I said right before I hung up.

I scribbled a quick note for Adam and left it next to the macaroni and cheese.

I threw my boots and jacket on quickly and went to my car.

I opened my GPS and put in the location Tony gave me.

It looked like it was gonna be a late night after all.
