You may think of human-sized ratmen would be the most vicious creatures in the universe right? That's how medias throughout history have predicted almost any kind of rat. Though what if I told you that in reality, they are the most loyal honor bound warriors you will ever meet. Unfortunately for you, they are extremely xenophobic and cruel to those who are not them, but in every other way, they are honor bound warriors.
The Verkar are ratmen who follow traditions to the letter. They make excellent swordsmen and voidship pilots, but will rather adhere to the old ways of warfare rather than evolve as a military. Though this may sound like a very unsuccessful way of warfare, the tactics they implement may be old, but the weapons they develop for those tactics are always evolving.
For the Verkar, they take few prisoners after victory, and you would be lucky to take them as prisoner. They believe it is the upmost dishonorable thing to do is to be captured, and will commit ritualistic suicide before their enemies could ever lay their hands on them.
The Verkar race as a whole, are cunning, Honourable, xenophobic, and utterly endless. When they are not fighting, eating, or governing, they are breeding. If not kept in check, the verkar may drown the galaxy in a tide of endless vermin.
