Mama turned her head to face us. "Norman, Y/N. This is Mr Ratri." She pointed. "He's your new daddy."

We looked around the place.

"Wah... the outside world is huge!" Don gasped in awe.

Lani and Thoma began to chase each other on a large tree branch.

"Ah! Lani!"

I snickered softly as Lani fell off the branch.

We reached a large spot underneath a large tree.

"Everyone, make sure to eat slowly and small bites. We need to stretch out the amount of food and water we brought with us." Gilda ordered.

I took a bite of my food before noticing Emma sweating and panting while on look-out.

Approaching her with a jar of water, I placed in front of her.

"Hey."

"WAHHHH!" She screamed.

"Don't worry. There won't be any monsters in a place like this." I said nonchalantly.

"A-And how do you know that?!"

"There aren't any claw marks, foot prints or any signs that show a monster or danger is near. Still, we have to be careful."

Handing the jar to her, I spoke. "You're too eager."

Gazing at the surroundings, I continued. "Get some rest, Emma. I'll keep watch."

She smiled warmly. "Ray..."

Glancing at her ear, I sighed, my heart sinking. "Sorry, Emma."

"if I had followed the plan from the beginning, you wouldn't have lost your ear."

Emma replied. "It's fine. You being here, healthy and alive, is all that I need."

I grinned. "Thanks."

Gazing at the group enjoying their meal, I stared at the ground.

"Emma. I'll live. I'll live and protect this family. This time, I swear!" Staring at her, I raised my hand. "So don't bear this burden alone, okay?"

She gasped. "Ray..."
