FRANKLIN COLLYMORE had studied many cases of murder and a framed victim. He had read the infamous case in To Kill a Mockingbird, it was a mandatory book to read if you wanted to become a lawyer, after all. Well, that's what his teachers at his law school said, anyway. Franklin had also studied about minors in possession of illegal drugs and alcohol that led to many deaths, mostly car crashes.

But none of them led to a horrific death like Chrissy Cunningham's. In fact, Franklin didn't think there was ever a death this morbid and out of the blue that he's ever heard of.

Death by being consumed by otherworldly creatures, death by an explosion of a malfunctioning machine meant to open a gateway to that world, sure—he's heard of that before. But not mangled limbs and withered eyeballs sucked into their sockets and into a bloody mess.

You see, Franklin Collymore was a law student, studying in the great plains of Illinois, far enough away—he thought—from the beautiful Hawkins, Indiana. But unfortunately for Franklin, ever since that November in 1983, no matter what sort of distance he put himself from his junior year, he would always be dragged back into it, one way or the other.

So of course, a death like this happens in this small town. Of course, this death happens just as he finished unpacking for the spring break at his parents house.

Franklin was a bright young man— returning to his beloved home where he witnessed government-secret information, met death in the eye several times and was almost kidnapped by evil Russians—just to meet the people who gave birth to him only to be ignored for an entire week.

Anyways, Chrissy Cunningham's death was a sure shock, but when Nancy Wheeler phoned Franklin that very morning, he wasn't all that surprised that some supernatural shit was behind all this—and to top it off, all the blame was being put on that guy.
