" We gather here today to witness the ceremony of my granddaughter's queue binding to Eywa!" Mo'at shouts in glee and excitement. She was now a grandmother to a blessed child from her daughter Neytiri and son-in-law, Jake.
I finally now knew the connection I had with the two people who were there for me from the very start.
Neytiri was my mother, and Jake was my father.
I do not know the meaning of both titles but what I do know and understand based on what she had said to me is that they would be my caretakers, the people who would be there for me.
After the introduction made by my father as he held me high in the air in front of several of the blue-striped people. They had to wait until sunset had fallen and abyssal darkness colored the sky with its several majestic white dots.
My mother Neytiri, passes me to my father's hands and once she had done so, my amethyst eyes met with a woman who was much older than my mother. The older woman smiled brightly as she cupped my face with both of her hands.
" I could feel how much Eywa loved creating her, Neytiri. So much so, her eyes being in the spitting image of our Vitraya..." the older woman said with a warm smile.
" I have a feeling she may even take my place one day as Tsahik. "
Jake and Neytiri turned to each other and both smiled as they then turn to Mo'ak.
" It will be her decision in the future if she wishes to be Tsahik, mother," Neytiri says.
" And it will be her decision if she wants to choose the path of a warrior." Jake proudly said, grinning.
Mo'at sighs at Jake's words.
" Hayyy! There are too many warriors in this family."
Jake mischievously smiles, " You're still young and strong, mother. Do not fret yourself not being able to continue your duties."
Mo'at stomps my father's foot and I could feel papa stumbling a bit from the pain the old woman had done to him.
" You are too daring, skxwang. Neytiri!" she calls out to my mother and playfully smiles " You have done well teaching this man."
Neytiri giggles. " You're welcome, mother."
Mo'at then notices that she was taking too long. " Oh my, let us start the ceremony now shall we?"
Both mother and father nodded.
Father quickly turned me around and I could feel a hand grabbing a piece of my hair at the end. My eyes were on my father and his eyes were on me. My father warmly smiled and whispered, " It will be okay, don't worry."
" Netey! (Okay!)" I responded though not in the way I expected.
I saw my father's eyes widening and my mother's as well. It had been the first time she had spoken and they were in joy at the sound of her voice.
" I will now put her queue." She could hear the old woman say and as she said that she could feel herself being wrapped with something warm, a feeling of happiness spread across her face.
Neytiri stared at her daughter in awe. The same goes for Jake as well.
They had never felt so lucky and grateful to Eywa for blessing their daughter. The Omaticaya people raised their hands as they sang louder in congratulation for the couple and their firstborn.
We live in Eywa, and Eywa lives in us.
The great mother holds all her children in her heart.
