" Annari!"

She immediately walks inside the hut with the basket of vegetables in her hand. As she did so, she was met with the stern glare of her aunt. Who then smiled when she had seen the vegetables she was carrying in her basket. Her aunt walks towards her and takes the basket from her hand. Turning around, she walks back to making the food for her husband and child who would be returning from their hunt together.

But before she did so, she turns around and snarkily says, " What are you doing standing there?"

" Help me cook." She orders and Annari hastily nods her head.

She runs to her aunt's side and began helping her cut the vegetables with her dead mother's knife.

But being the clumsy child she is, she accidentally cuts her finger which made her yelp from the pain and drop the knife she was holding.

It was only a small cut yet the blood from the new wound dripped into the vegetables, putting a stain on its once lively green nature.

Her aunt notices the red hue on the vegetables and grimaces, " SXKWANG!"

" You ruined the food!" she shouts in anger. Without a second thought, she roughly slaps Annari's face out of frustration, " Why can you not do anything right?!?" she scolds her, " If you were not my sister's daughter I would have thrown you out for your uselessness. Be glad that Toruk Makto's child and Malik's daughter found you outside the forest!"

"You cursed parentless child!" She says angrily. Annari faced away from her aunt due to the slap and closes her eyes tightly as she needed to hold her tears back. So as not to anger her aunt even more.

Her aunt massages her temples then sighs, " Clean your wound in the river and take the soiled vegetable away. Throw it or bury it in someplace. I do not care. Just come back here and do not vanish just like what happened last time." she sternly states as she turns away and heads off to continue preparing the food.

Annari weakly nodded as she stood up and grabbed the vegetable with her not-wounded hand, quickly walking out of the hunt she was so terrified to be in after being split away from it for a long time. She had come back to the life she had to endure again. Having to always keep her head low and not speak in fear of her new family's anger and despise towards her.

The fault came from both her parents. Specifically, her father who had sided with Toruk Makto in the war. Believing in his bravery and prowess that would lead the clan to victory against the sky people. Her mother believed in the man himself and joined her father in the battle that caused them both their lives.

Which led her to be in her aunt and uncle's care.

Her father was from another clan and was only sent out here as a trader of clothing in exchange for weaponry and food. And when he traveled here, he met her mother and soon he decided to separate from his clan and joined the Omaticaya. However, the only problem which held their love towards one another was that her mother was to be mated with her uncle.

A fine and strong warrior, unlike her outcast of a father.

Her aunt, on the other hand, detested her mother for being mated to her uncle. She wanted to be his mate instead but her deceased grandparents denied it for a reason that they cared more for their oldest daughter's future in the clan. This caused her to be immensely jealous of the favoritism.

Due to this, her mother and father mated secretly which caused a large dispute that then led to her birth.

It's oddly similar to a certain mated couple who had shocked the clan with their revelation. Maybe that was the reason why both of her parents supported Toruk Makto so quickly.
